The Ocean Pearl, Udupi

I stayed at The Ocean Pearl on my visit to Udupi. I was there for work & stayed with them for 3 nights. Here are my ratings for some of the areas that I feel are important for travellers to know :||1. Location (4 out of 5) : The location is not absolutely at the heart of Udupi. But then, Udupi is not a huge city, it's a town. You can reach anywhere in 7-10 mins.||2. Check-in (5 out of 5) : My room was ready when I arrived, the check in process was over in less than 5 mins. If you are expecting a welcome drink, well that's not available.||3. Room (4.5 out of 5) : The rooms are pretty decent sized for 2 people. Since I was alone, it was more than adequate. The cooling was effective and the linens were clean. The view from my room was not very good.||4. Bathroom (4 out of 5) : They do not provide hand towels - just bathing towels. The toiletries they provide are avoidable - the soap, shampoo, body lotion etc. I'd prefer you carry yours. But towels are replaced daily, and the fresh towels smell excellent.||5. Food (5 out of 5) : I loved the food they served me. From the ghee roast to the beg thaali. Simply superb! The breakfast seemed repetitive - especially, the poori bhaaji, dosa, idli, upma & sheera. But I guess, in a way, that's what people also prefer. The bhaaji with the poori is to die for. Don't miss ghee roast pomfret - it's divine. The fish just melts away.||6. Room Service (5 out of 5) : I think their service has improved dramatically. Anything that I ordered was delivered within max 15-20 minutes.||7. Staff (5 out of 5) : Very helpful & courteous. It was a pleasure to speak with them.||All in all, I feel it's a 4 out of 5 for me.

I had a very pleasant stay; the staff were exceptionally courteous. The room was delightful, comparable in quality and amenities to what the Marriott Hotel in Hyderabad offers its customers. Ocean pearl time square

I traveled here for business in May and was impressed with the well-kept, spotless premises. Despite its compact size, the hotel offers exceptional hospitality and service. The room amenities and food quality are top-notch—I didn't need to request any touch-ups from Maintenance or Housekeeping. The front desk staff were attentive, greeting everyone with warm smiles.||||They have separate restaurants—one for vegetarians and another for non-vegetarian options. The breakfast buffet mainly features Indian dishes and is quite satisfying. The dinner menu is also diverse and delicious. The staff were friendly and quick to respond to any requests.||||I highly recommend this hotel for both families and business travelers.

I was in Ocean Pearl three times.My earlier stays were very good.This time on 15th November,2024 I was a little disappointed. The staff is definitely very polite. But at the time of billing I was charged for double occupancy,when I was the single person.The billing people amended it but I was shocked to see the difference between double and single occupancy.It is negligible. I remember that my wife was my guest last time for a single night and I was charged 2200. I shall write about this on social media.

The great. The Ocean pearl .... Udupi I never ever saw this kind of service in my life, it's worst. When I saw the ambiance I thought that it's pretty good but here is no one caring the customers, and staff was very rude. They didn't even know how to deal with the customer 😞 I really really disappointed with your beaver. I never expected these kind of service from you guys. You need to improve your service as well as taste

I had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The rooms are small but they are clean. I was put off when I checked out. On checking out I was told the hotel does not accept foreign credit or debit cards. I had the cash on me so it was not a problem. But, if it is true (and I doubt very much that it is - I suspect the staff were just being lazy), the hotel should state this at the time of booking not at the time of paying. I might add the restaurant accepts both foreign credit and debit cards.

Awesome service.. new building .. great interiors..good food.. Sumesh is a good chef ..Kemp was very sweet .. provided great service .management was very warm. I would highly recommend this place .. this is very close to the Udupi krishna temple.

Disappointed! Very bad service! 1. No proper welcome from counter people, also no info shared about facilities in Ocean Pearl 2. Veg section [Sagar Ratna] in Grd floor : Tables are not cleaned, spoons are just placed on tables and not in stand or plates, menu list is not placed -> need to ask and wait for 5-10mins 3. People who supervise [in grey suit] in veg section are very bad with manners and service. 4. While billing extra items were added which were not even ordered, Requesting to thoroughly check bills before payment 5. When other customer misbehave with sitting posture to opposite, there is no staff to ask him not to disturb other customer and maintain mannerism 6. Extremely disappointed to see such a well developed Ocean Pearl to see in extremely bad service. Specifically my guest were disappointed. Customers: 1.Carry bags full of patience, as there will be tons of errors in service and food quality 2. Check bills properly, Check food also before eating. 3. Just walk off if something is disturbing-> there are wonderful food hotels which provide service, quality and with work ethics
