★★★★★We are currently staying in this homestay for 3 nights whilst in town to visit the Tiger reserve. We negotiated an excellent price with the owner, a very kind and friendly guy. The room is basic but very clean, comfy beds and fresh bedding. En suite bathroom is good although hot water seems intermittent and water is chilly in the morning. The best thing about the place is how peaceful the surroundings are. It is off the main road and surrounded by lush forest. You can sit with a tea on the veranda just admiring nature. I recommend for any couples wanting a quiet stay in a tranquil setting. Its only 5 minutes walk from the centre and walkimg distance to the Tiger park entrance.

★★★★★I stayed here for 2 nights. this is a very nice property, well maintained. they have a small garden also where they have black pepper, coffee beans, curry leaves plantation. the rooms are big enough, well ventilated. neat and clean bathrooms. there is a big forest also infront of the property, where giant squirrels and black monkeys can be seen. Sasi, the owner of the property is a nice person. he arranged the whole package for me. his wife is also very nice. they arranged the breakfast for us on the last day coz we had to leave early from thekkady for Alleppy. overall a nice stay. will recommend this stay to people who want to feel like at home while being in thekkady.

★★★★★We stayed here in Mid January and only intended to stay a couple of nights but it was so peaceful and our hosts Sasi and Kumari looked after us so well we stayed 11 nights. We had such a comfortable room and slept so well each night .Plenty hot water in the en suite bathroom .Television in the room. Each morning we would have masala tea on the verandah and watch the nature around us. The fragrance of coffee plant Flowers in the air . A family of Nilgiri black langurs would often pass through the trees and would sit on the branches quietly eating leaves. We also were treated to many types of birdsong .We saw the Malabar Giant squirrel too. After watching the forest wake up we would make our way for breakfast which we bought at the rooftop restaurant at the end of the lane. ||Sasi was very happy to help with anything and provided us with so much information. He arranged a trip on a jeep for us with driver and he came with us as a guide to visit the fruit farms and countryside of Tamil Nadu just over the border. We visited a temple and a sacred waterfall and had so many photo opportunities in the beautiful countryside.||This was such a good place to stay and Kumily was a very good town to stay in with good places to eat ,have a massage ,buy fresh spices and near to Periyar .||It was all the thoughtful and kind gestures made by our hosts that made this a special place. We are going to stay here again .When we left in January Sasi saw us off at the bus station as a friend.

★★There was a bit of confusion regarding the booking and I had few anxious moments & desperate calls to stayzilla (will elaborate later). First, review of this homestay.||Pros: Very near to Periyar Tiger Reserve Entrance; Walking distance from Kumily town (mall road)||Cons: No parking space for the car - heavy traffic - you will miss few heart beats if you take your car & if the car is big you are guranteed to have few dents!|| Located on the first floor - you have to climb up the steps - since no assistance for carrying the luggage, you will have tough time if you have heavy baggages|| Rooms are not very clean and they are congested|| Extremely noisy and polluted road..........could become a problem to sleep in the night||||PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: I had a confirmed booking voucher to this place from stayzilla. The owner's wife let us move the luggage to the two rooms booked (had to carry all the luggage ...me, my wife & children..!)The guy (owner??) came and started shouting at his wife and told me that he does not have any info on the booking!!!He was refusing to look at the voucher also..With his broken english he was expressing his displeasure about stayzilla and with us for moving in :-) So I told him to stop "shouting" at his wife (because I should have been the one doing it to him in this circumstance :-) & started calling stayzilla...Usual problems in wading through the "N" number of voice machine instructions to reach an "assistant" and finally I did manage to speak to a person. He again confirms the booking :-) :-) I gave the phone to this "owner" who reluctantly started talking to him....final outcome he still refuses to give us the rooms. By this time I voluntarily removed all the luggages from the rooms as I normally hate to quarrel with any one! The only good thing he did was to call the person mentioned in the voucher (which was different from him for some reason!!) and that "person" promptly arrived at the scene. He offered us one more place to stay (3 kms away from here). I had a very tough time because I did not know whether I can trust this new fellow..(I still don't know how this confusion happened & to whom the stayzilla people paid money)...I had to report for nature walk at 1:45 P.M and we missed the lunch because of all this confusion. I asked the new person to come at 5:30 P.M and decided to check with stayzilla & others about the safety aspect of moving to an unknown place with an unknown destination! Only good news for us was that the new place (Good Earth Homestay) was not only "fantastic" (in relative terms) but also in a quiet place (with ample parking space).

★★★★★We stayed at Ammu's Homestay for 3 days in the start of October, 2014. ||It is the best homestay we got at 1200 INR for one night! ||The owner is very generous man. He welcomed us with a cup of coffee. There are coffee plantations nearby and a restaurant just in front of the Homestay! ||Since there is a lot of greenery, flies and bugs/insects do come in the evening time (if the gates/windows are left opened). ||I would give 5 stars because we were supposed to stay there just for 2 days but we stayed there for 3 days and I don't regret it!

★★★★We have booked this stay through Stayzilla at last minute for a group of 13 people with kids. Though we stayed for a short time, it was very peaceful and pleasant. Mr. & Mrs. Sashidaran was very helpful on many aspects. Rooms were tidy and a perfect location to stay with families. I recommend this home stay which is reasonably priced.

★★★★★Big room with good bathroom, hot water and a small terasse. Everything is neat and clean with comfortable beds. The location in the middle of greenery is soothing and quiet and the activities just around the corner. But better than all of this is the overwhelming friendliness of the owners. Not a hotel but a home.
