Vedanta Wake Up!

Worst experience for me and my family. People who has dust allergy please dont come here. Our tour operators cheated us by bringing us here. The water in bathroom is brown in color. The rooms are full of dust and you cannot switch on the fans due to dust and spider webs. Even after telling this in reception there wasnt any response from them. Please dont go here.

Rooms are too good even dormitory is also available rooms are well maintained. For some rooms there are no windows the rooms with windows are pretty better than the ones without. You can enjoy the scenic view from rooms with windows. The manager is so kind. The staff are very polite. The water you get in bathrooms is crystal clear may be mineral water unlike other hotels in Kerala

My experience with Vedanta was amazing. I was on a solo motorcycle trip and I quickly understood that hostels are the best places to stay because it was cheap and you get to meet a lot of new people. Edakkal being my top priority, Vedanta was my only option as it was the closest and the only place with a view to the caves ( I think).||I reached on a sunday afternoon ,but the caves closed early. They were closed on mondays , so there were no tourists in the area. I was literally alone in the hotel, but Vedanta never made me feel bored. A big thanks to the man who manages the place, Mr Jintu. He has been an excellent guide and support for the whole three days in waynad. He also accopanied me to a place called Phantom rock and a trek to the top and a cave below. Its a must see in Waynad because it will not be there after a few years as the quarry is slowly killing the area. Trips to the nearest dam and a view point with Jintu also was a magnificent experience. The fact that he is so well known with the area and the local people made it a lot more easier to get through Waynad. |The hospitality there is great and they serve tea and some breakfast which was good and reasonably priced. A cool sit out area with a camp fire and a terrace with a killer view of the rocks and sunset, makes this a place where you can just chill out. My rating is a solid 10/10 and there is no question about where ill stay the next time i visit Wayanad

Awesome place to stay when you are on low budget and still wants to feel like you're not compromised in the matter of luxury. Awesome mattresses, very pleasant environment, very helpful managers. Best hotel rooms for very low prices. Homely food. Next to Edakkal Caves.

So I really don’t get what Vedanta’s product is, and I don’t think they have done enough to ensure their staff do either. They market themselves as a backpacking hostel, but I have only experienced that ‘backpacking’ atmosphere at one (Varkala). Of the ones I have stayed at, only in Kerala, they all lack something (atmosphere, accessible location, accurate and confident help and advice on local tours etc.) that make the stay enjoyable.||||The one in Wayanad is in the middle of nowhere – if you do not have a method of getting around yourself (meaning car, scooter etc.), I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The hostel does not have a food licence, which is annoying given its location and makes things quite difficult. Admittedly, the staff offer solutions, but not necessarily the best ones (they offered to call a tuk to take me to the nearest restaurant and back at a cost of Rs.120 each way - not really a backpackers budget!). ||||The staff are friendly – I was the only one in the hostel, so after some time, they engaged in some chit chat, but they were not proactive as hostel staff should be (it took 24 hours for my plates from breakfast to be just taken away from the table in the common area and it takes time for them to engage with guests).||||WiFi goes down quite a lot and so does power (to charging plug sockets only????) and being in such a remote location, with no other guests, there is little else to do apart from watch TV (which is somehow never affected by power cuts???). I was watching a programme in English, went away for 2 minutes, and on returning, one of the staff members had laid across the sofa, changed the channel to one in a local language, and despite knowing I had nothing else to do, didn’t offer to change it back, or make room on the sofa. So I sat behind him on a chair in the ‘common area’ and started typing out this review offline with the intention to upload when I next was able to.||||Vedanta have such a market advantage, being the only hostel chain in the south and with nice, clean properties, but I really feel they have delivered a half-hearted product. I do not believe they, themselves, have taken the time to understand what makes a good hostel and pass this knowledge on to their staff. I would suggest that the Vedanta team invest in developing their employees and training them up on how to run a hostel. A visit to a successful hostel chain in North India, similar to the potential Vedanta Wake Up could achieve, beginning with a ‘Z’ would go so far in creating a backpacker experience that people recommend time and time again. Moreover, it will help the whole Vedanta team understand what delights backpackers and avoid many of the reviews I have read that make backpackers like me nervous about staying with you. ||||I think Vedanta are OK, but it is always my last choice – I think they have the potential to be a backpacker’s first choice!

Really a cool place to stay. We stayed 1 night and they provided us room with balcony. This is our 1st time experience with this hotel. You can't get better room in this price and facilities. Amazing!

mm, i was not here at all. i think it just stayed on my timeline when i was visiting edakkal caves. But i did remember the name - it had caught my eye. This place is definitely located at a nice place - great view at this spot. Ample parking is available - but i am sure it would be flooded with tourist vehicles otherwise.

We, group of 9 members stayed here for a day before 2 weeks. We really enjoyed staying there. Good service and they guided us for all tourist spots
