GATEWAY STAR HOTEL

Keep your expectations to the ground to survive this stay. The only good thing about this place is its proximity to the airport. That made it somewhat bearable. The location itself looked a bit sketchy, but being near the airport and surrounded by several others gave a slight sense of comfort. The hotel is tucked away in an alley, and you have to pass through a gate to get in. There was a security-looking person who helped with my baggage from the cab to the hotel — that was appreciated. However, the hotel badly needs maintenance. It was dusty, the room didn’t feel clean, and the bedsheets had stains on them even though they seemed washed. The bathroom definitely needed better cleaning. I had already read reviews and expected this, but chose the place anyway to avoid a long layover. If you’re mentally prepared for just a place to crash, then go in, turn off the lights, enjoy the AC and fan, and try to sleep. That said, sleep can be disturbed by loud kitchen noises — like pressure cooker whistles and other clatter. Thankfully, I had noise-cancelling earphones, which helped a bit. Overall, still a disappointing experience. Only worth considering if your priority is a quick rest near the airport and you have very low expectations

Extremely poor hygiene. Creepy 100 legged worms crawling through the drainage. AC hasn’t been cleaned in ages, it throws air worse than industrial pollutants. Me and my partner caught a viral infection. I lost 5 business days because of my sickness. Rooms are not sound proof. Hence can’t ever get a sound sleep at night without going through a drunk couple fighting, staff arguing, etc. Moreover, I was levied a 200 bucks fine over a broken remote (thrown by the drunk idiot earlier) which I never touched. Despite staying for a week, the reception wouldn’t accommodate a 30m late checkout or allow me to leave my luggage behind at the reception. Just left for good.!

Rundown building, everything falls apart. Smelly rooms, old towels, I am surprised to see how this place earned 4 star rating.

Arriving on an international flight at Mumbai Airport at 00:15 and requiring a room for 10/12 hours to sleep and freshen up. I booked this before I travelled. Check in was prompt, we were shown to a room with 1 single and 1 double bed with a TV & AC. Room was clean as was the toilet (western style). Bottle water given. It was only 10 mins drive by taxi from the airport, cost with a pre-paid taxi 311 INR (with AC!!!, save 30 INR for non AC!!!). With the image of the the front of the hotel, I was expecting it to be on the main road. It was down a narrow driveway which is shared with other hotels and businesses. You had to tip toe and zig zag as it had just rained!! It was suffice for 1 night. Close to shops on the main busy road.

Rooms are clean but very small. They will say its big but its not. Bathroom is small. But in photo it looks big. All other hotels near this one is less priced and bigger rooms. Location problem is there is no car parking. The day we went, it was raining heavily. For food we had to walk till road. It was like flood. We had to walk through all drainage water. There restaurant starts only at 12pm. They didnt even give us an umbrella. Worst service.

The location & staff are really great, but the Gateway Star Inn hotel that they moved us without pre-information & then the absolutely dire conditions of the bathroom & toilet made our experience horrible although the room otherwise was bearable to what we paid, we had no time to move elsewhere, but if you booked it please cancel it now and pay those extra bucks middle class.

The hotel was very clean and staff are very friendly. For 10 days, I was very happy with the service. Keep up the good work.
