★First of all, I would like to say that I booked this hotel after going through the reviews in TripAdvisor and it did not meet my expectation. I planned this trip to Tarkarli long back (1.5 months) and booked this hotel by calling Mr. Kubal on his mobile given in this site. It was difficult to reach him but finally I could make it and made a booking for 2 double bed rooms for a stay on 1st January, 2010 as I did not get a booking in MTDC. We reached Tarkarli in the evening and I called him thrice on the day to ensure that we would be reaching in the evening and the booking was confirmed. However, after reaching we were given two rooms, 1 double bed and the other one was kind of a dormitory where 6-7 persons can sleep. The rooms were not clean and we did not like it . The double bed room was less worse. The floors were covered with oil-clothes which was a very poor attempt in making the room carpetted. The bed was a cemented one with very poor bed sheets and pillows. The doors can not beb locked properly from the inside due to broken latches. On an attempt to make the room modern, a glass door was placed in each room but the glass was not tinted and a transparent curtain did the rest to kill your privacy. Every room has an attached bathroom, very basic with a WC and a bucket and mug with a tap with running water, but it was clean. The room was not properly ventilated with only one window. We did not really expect some plush hotels for six hundred bucks but expected a clean homely stay which we did not get. Food was fresh but not tasty and they take a lot of time to serve. We had good prawns there but other items were horrible and we did not even get any veg dish apart from an item made of radish, they did not even have potatos. We tried to find rooms in other hotels but did not find any. We also had a chance to look at the rooms of the hotel 'Sea View' and the rooms were good there. ||On that very night we booked a boat for the next day and Mr.Kubal helped us to make the deal but even that was a flop. We had to start early from Tarkarli and wanted to take the ride early in the morning. The boatman said that we would be starting at 6 AM but he did not arrive till 6:30 in the morning and we waited for him. Ever after reaching the ferryghat, there was no boat for us and we had to wait there also. Finally we boarded a boat at 6:50 and it took us some 50 meters inside the river and we were shifted to another boat there. For the next half an hour we waited in anticipation but the boat did not move, engine was not working. We were taken back to the ferryghat at 7:40 AM and were asked to wait so that he could arrange another boat. We were running short of time and it was late to watch dolphins also, so we did not agree and came back to the hotel and checked out immidietly after having a breakfast of Kandapoha which was awefull.

★★★★★First of all, I would like to that the previous reviewer. I had booked this resort purely based on this review. And reaching there, i realised it was the best decision i could have made.... :)||The resort was a decent one. What i liked the most was: resort's proximity to the beutiful, clean beach. We had a sea facing room, so that was an addon... :) After enjoying for the full day, we could the see the sun set from our rooms.... It was amazing.||The stay for more memorable due to the welcoming nature of the resort owners. They are a small famiily and treat all the guests like their family. The food prepared by the aunty was also amazing... the konkani flavor, with timely service of chai and poha... The uncle there (read owner) also helped us get a boat to go to the dolphin point. He also arranged for our snorkelling... It was amazing staying at Tarkarli, with the sweet family. Given a chance to visit Tarkarli again, i would no doubt, stay in Saagar Beach resort only.

★I've never reviewed any places in the past - but decided to do it this one time since I went to a place based on reveiws and was terribly disappointed. Just hope anyone reading my review takes a better call.|| ||Travellers - Myself, my hubby and my 15 month old baby - left on 14th Dec at 4 in the morning and returned on 19th|| ||Route - Towards Taarkarli - via the old mumbai goa highway - its a shorter route but filled with ghats so I had to take my dose of avomine - husband loved the drive though. Left Mumbai at 4 in the morning and reached Taarkarli at 1.30 - took 2 breaks of 1/2 hour each for breakfast and jsut to relax.||Coming back to Mumbai - via the Kolhapur pune expressway - longer route but could zip away and reached in pretty much the same time||Roads are good both ways and we used google maps to find out way and it was pretty simple and easy.|| ||Accomodation - We decided to go a day earlier so that we could be fresh for our stay on the 15th at MTDC. Going by the raving reviews on the web on Saagar Beach resort we decided to stay there. Getting though to them via the mobile was a pain because half the time there seems to be no coverage but I felt it would have been worth it. We were in for a big shock when we reached there at 1 in the afternoon. The rooms are extremely dingy - terrible flooring with some horrendous carpets pasted on it, horrible bathrooms, bed was a cemented bed not big enough for my husband who is 5.11". My daughter hated it - she kept crying and did not want to sit on the bed since there was no proper ventilation at all. There was no wash basin in the room or the bathroom so I had to go to a common place outside to wash my babies feeding bottles. They did not have lunch available and offered to go and get some eggs if we could wait for an hour - Frankly we were so put off by the place we did not want to wait for anything. Since my husband was exhausted with the drive he took a nap but I could not sit in the room with my wailing baby so decided to move out and find a better place. Thankfully at the beginning of the lane there was a place called Sea View Hotel - which was great - good airy rooms, A/c and clean (frankly like any decent hotel should be). We iimediately checked in to this place after which my daughter settled down.|| ||The next morning we went to the MTDC resort - this place is heavenly - bang on the beach - all other places claiming to be on the beach are just making fools of people - since you cannot see the water beyond the Suru trees which are in abundance there. However MTDC is just brilliant they are on the beach - rooms facing the sea with hammocks at every interval. We fell in love with the place - service wise also great since we got a good waiter who gave us great room service throughout our stay. We stayed in the Konkani huts which are really cool - we had an AC room but frankly one can do wihtout it - atleast during the time we went.|| ||We moved in the Houseboat on the 18th - we had a booking on the Hinranyakeshi Houseboat but swapped with the people living on the Karli housboat sicne we had a group of friends who joined us. Both boats have the same rooms and facilities only difference being the Hiranyakeshi has an upper deck - My advise would be to book Karli since it is 1000/- buck cheaper and the deck on the Hiranyakeshi is not all that great.|| ||Service and facilities - Services at MTDC were great - everyone was courteous and helpful right from the receptionist to the housekeeping staff to the restaurant staff. Food is fantastic. On day 2 we went to Malvan to pick up all our goodies from Asorkars. Had food at this place called - Atithi Bamboo - frankly we were looking out for The Bamboo but ended up here and were not at all disappointed. Great food at even more greater prices. Both of us are fish eaters and we have around 5 dishes and the bill came up to 233/- which was a steal.||Food on the houseboat was excellent as well. ||We went snorkelling and the sights were fantastic - did not do the fort since we were too exhausted. ||We took a boat ride the next morning and did the 4 usual spots - 3 islands and dolphin wathching. This was a great thing to do - the islands are really beautiful and the ride on the river and the sea were breathtakingly beautiful. A must do.|| ||I guess thats it - I could go on an on about how wonderful this place is - it definitely is one of the 100 places to see before you die/

★This small homestay is bang opposite the beach, but honestly there is no beach view, a very shabby and dirty resort. The loos are filty and the rooms ever dirtier, the bed was a cemented one and the mattress on the same was extremelyyyyy uncomfortable. We could actually hear rats scurrying on the cloth ceiling and saw ants all over the room. The food too was not at all tasty. Overall we were very upset with our choice of accommodation and literally braved the time we were there. There are quite a few resorts nearby that offer much much more in terms of cleanliness and airy rooms at the same rate of 600 per night with much tastier food. The snorkeling was good and luckily we did get to spot a few dolphins. One must make sure they visit the nearby forts and the rock garden. Overall, as a place tarkali is beautiful , but in contrast the resort was a total dampner. Would NEVER recommend this resort to anyone . And yes, there were bed bugs to add to our misery too!!

★★★★★This is by far the best home stay/hotel one can possibly have at such reasonable cost. The view of Arabian sea is majestic you can just relax and watch waves crashing rocks and enjoy the calmness and tranquility of the sea. But the highlight of this place is the couple who owns this place, what a wonderful couple and their hospitality is the best i have seen so far, at no point you will think you are in a hotel. The lady is a master chef, try sukha prawns and other fish/chicken cuisine from her, she is the best cook. rooms are descent and the rock garden which is 10 minutes walk away is icing on cake.||||If you want an homely feeling with an amazing food and very descent people, this is the best place to be.||Lady(Hilda) cooks amazing vegetarian food as well and John the host is an amazing man to talk to.||||I will come back again and again.

★★★★★This is a newly built property. The rooms are decent and view from the room is awesome. You get to see tides and waves from your window. It is mesmerizing experience to sleep so close to beach. While sleeping you can hear the sound of waves at night. This gives you sound and relaxed sleep. You can wake at wee hours feeling refreshed and recharged. We definitely need such quiet stay far away from hustle and bustle, close to nature to admire its beauty. Here, we slow down our life and enjoy time with ourself. We went into waters early morning to feel and enjoy splashes with cold breeze. The onwer of the property is a reputed man from this vicinity. He is very helpful and will guide exactly to make your itinerary more qualitative. We recommend all the readers if you plan to Visit Malvan do stay here at least for couple of nights.

★★★★We have just returned from our trip to the southern part of Maharashtra, Tarkarli. ||I did a lot of search through the internet three weeks prior to my departure and shortlisted many of the hotels published, unfortunately could not find accomodation at the MTDC, so finally called Mr. Ghanshyam Kubal of Saagar Beach Resort, my question to him was plain and simple, a non AC room that is very near to the beach, he assured me that I would not find difficulty in that, just to be doubly sure I did an alternative booking at Soham Resort, on my arrival at soham I was dismayed to find that access to the beach was not very near and therefore decided to stay at Saagar Beach Resort.||||The Resort has 6 rooms all Non AC, each room has a WC attached, no problem of power cut and water. The Resort serves veg and non-veg food, if you bring fish from the market they are ready to cook it the way you want it.||||What impressed me most about Saagar Beach Resort is that this place is just about less than 100 steps away from the beach, the resort is well maintained, the family is very hospitable and will ensure you have a pleasant stay, the owner Mr. Kubal is a simple and honest man.
