The Imperial Poonam Hotel

This is a great hotel, right on the edge of the main Phagwara bazaar, etc. As a location, you can't go wrong as everything is a very very short walk away, be it shopping, drinks, food, whatever.||The hotel it small which makes is pleasant and for the staff to manage, its got a great rooftop bar which I only discovered a day before I left and a really nice bar on the first floor. The restaurant behind reception is small but pleasant, I only used this for breakfast as ate elsewhere for lunch and dinner.||The staff at this hotel are excellent, nothing is too much trouble, you only have to ask and they will respond. On one night I wanted to watch a UK football game, Villa v Liverpool, I asked at reception and they sent someone up to check, only to find it was a paid for channel, now bear in mind this was 11:45pm, the chap got on the phone and managed to secure the channel for me for the night, and it cost..........19 rupees! This was the same for any request, be it more water, help with a stuck lock or just general questions, always on hand.||I had two rooms booked, one I did on Booking.com and the second I contacted them directly and they contacted me back on WhatsApp and reserved without a deposit (advance).||Things to note:|- Hot water is timed, so its not on during the day, they usually turn this on at 5am, so any shower before that or say after 10am will be a cold one, unless you ask for it to be switched on, which they are more than happy to do.|- This hotel has a function room downstairs, during my stay there were two parties every day, this isn't a problem during the day, but be aware they continue to midnight but that's it, they stop then, the speakers to cause the whole hotel to vibrate somewhat. |- Breakfast isn't a full English, but it full Punjabi so I am not complaining, just setting others' expectations. I will eat paronteh all day everyday.|- Some times the doors can be a bit of a pain to open as they get stuck, but the staff will happily come and help out or resolve.|- WiFi, whilst it works fine when connected, in various parts of the room it just bombs out, but that's not a major issue.|- Transport - the reception staff will happily order you a car (at your expense) or alternatively for local travelling as soon as you get out the hotel you will find plenty of auto-rickshaws at a very good rate. Still, don't feel you can't haggle, please do. I was regurlaly paying about the equivalent of £1 (100 rupees) for a trip which was around 10 - 15 mins away.||All in all, I would happily stay here again, its a very convenient, compact and comfortable hotel. I had a single room which had a king/queen bed, for a solo traveller its more than ample, so I haven't tried or seen the other rooms. Fresh bottled water is topped up daily, rooms made up daily or on request.||I really found this to be a bit of a hidden gem as its not a main stream hotel and is nicely tucked away off the kerbside.

We popped into the hotel as we were shopping in Phagwara. We visited on two occasions. The menu had so much choice from mexican, pizza, fruit salads etc. The chefs were visible and were wearing hairnet's. The staff were very helpful and advised us well. Cleanseness was good as they wiped not only the top of tables, but the sides too and this was followed by sweeping under the table. The loos were clean. I didn't get a chance to ask what was used to pickle the onions (pink). Would love to know.

We only ate at their restaurant but we were not disappointed. Poonam's offer a great variety of food options from around the world. Their portion sizes are generous at affordable prices. I would certainly recommend, especially if you want to have a non-Indian cuisine.

Awesome Hotel for stay. Very nice management. General Manager Mr. Suresh Sharma is very corporporative person. Front desk staff very nice. Nice rooms & and amazing food quality and also good service. Keep it up The Imperial Poonam 🤟🤟

We only ate at their restaurant (i.e. we were not hotel guests). This is the BEST PUNJABI FOOD I've had anywhere. Their tandoori chicken, chicken curry and mutton keema are out of this world - prices also very reasonable. Can't wait to visit again!

Stayed at the imperial poonam for 10 nights, have to say we had a great experience, rooms were very comfortable, the restaurants and room service was also great. Vijay and two lovely ladies at reception was very helpful also. Would definitely recommend any one coming to phagwara.

I visited a couple of times and receptionist are very friendly and helpful specially srishti and manisha are very nice girls
