Hotel Yuksum Residency

Great value for the money. Good breakfast with more than you can eat. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and hot water works. Only complaint is the slow WiFi (only works in the lobby too) and bad cell reception. That may very well be all of Yuksom though.

Very comfortable hotel to stay. The staff were very friendly and ready to help. Though less staff were present maybe because the season there was just beginning. We took the twin room and the room was spacious. We love to stay there again.

The Yuksom Residency is a good place to stay if you have a group. Rooms are fine with good views of the mountains if you are on the north side. Beds were a bit hard and most lights worked well, hot water, clean rooms. Staff were fine and helped when they could. Internet was patchy but given the location there was internet - no complaints. Still if I were to go again I would do a home stay. Another plus is in Yuksam hotels are owned and operated by locals from Yuksam not leased out so that is a big plus over other places in Sikkim where many hotels are run by outsiders.

We were given the biggest room / loft of this hotel, which turned out to be quite nicely arranged, with a comfortable bed and very clean. Marvellous view from the windows (even if we were not so lucky with the weather). ||The staff was very friendly and was generally taking good care of everything and accommodating all our requests, although I agree with a previous review of some of them being " a bit amateurish". ||Unfortunately, the boiler in the bathroom (locals called it "geyser") did not have enough power to heat water for 2 people (even for 1 person it was hardly enough). ||Wifi works only in the reception / lounge area. ||Special thank you to the Chef who cooked for us on request an amazing Sikkimese style dinner which required gathering ingredients from all over the area (ferns, nettle etc). The waiter in the restaurant was very friendly and hospitable as well. ||We are planning to return to Yuksum again for another trekking, and we will definitely stay again in the same hotel.

We stayed in this hotel during our trek to Dzongri in April 2016. This was the starting and finishing point of our trek. On the evening when we returned from a long and ardous trek of nearly a week our lungs and legs both asked for rest. The hot running water for us to freshen up the clean room and a hot cup of tea helped us to relax.The staff was ever so helpful and understanding. They served a lovely meal and breakfast and made our trekking experience all the more memorable

This place gets full marks for helping us during our stay in Yuksum. The weather was appalling and we had to extend our stay. The electricity was unreliable but the staff kept smiling and doing whatever they could to be helpful.||The beds are hard, but dry and better than our tents would have been. The toilets were clean,and the people were pleasant. ||The reception manager was particularly fun in trying conditions.

Yuksom Residency is a nice property. It is a pleasant to see a hotel run by all-ladies team. But it quickly wears off after interacting with the lady at the Reception. She quotes a price that would shock a star-rated hotel in any metro city (but eventually charges much less) and serves overpriced snacks. She levies a GST (a newly introduced tax) without proper registration - who gets to keep that tax money, we wonder.||||The breakfast (included in the room tariff) was inedible. We had to go out and spend extra money but the Hotel did not care.||||Don't ever order food here (bad and overpriced) even if you do stay with them. There are several nice joints in the immediate vicinity. We found Gupta Restaurant (about 50 m away) to be truly exceptional in quality, value and service.

Sad state of affairs. Stayed with them on the 4th of this month. Paid 1800 for the room. But the room was filthy. There were dead bugs in the room. The carpet was dirty. The dustbin was disgusting with trash stuck to it. The window was broken and they put a plastic sheet to cover it up. There were cob webs on the ceiling. The furniture was full of dust. Worst experience ever. Would recommend staying at other properties in Yuksom.
