The Madras Grand - Hotel Egmore

The poor rating is due to lack of coordination from the side of the staff. We booked a 5 people room but got a 4 person bedroom. When i asked them, the staff was rude and informed that it is what it is. We were all different people from different parts of the world and were not okay in sharing all our beds together. I wouldnt recommend this hotel if you are a group of people.

1km from Egmore Railway station. (Rapido auto will charge 60rs to reach there). So compared to the hotels opp to railway station, this is much better in cleanliness and comfort(particularly the bathing water is not chlorinated). Restaurant is available inside but the food is average (Outside food is allowed, so swiggy/zomato will help in this). Location is in the residential area.. so the view outside the hotel is not pretty. My Suggestion - Go for the hotel, if you have to stay nearby railway station for some official work. (Definitely not for vacation)

Nice and clean rooms, with supporting clean linens. Also the reception and hotel staff are all well trained to be customer oriented and polite. They are flexible too in early check-in and late check-out depending on availability. The restaurant is a plus point here with a variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner being served by professional and trained people. I will surely make an attempt to visit this property again.

I went by the Google reviews and I was terribly wrong. I had enquired them about the car parking whether it is available or not. They said it is sufficient. However no car proper parking is available. You can park only upto 5 cars at a time, however there are 24 rooms. Not all of them would come in car, but they should have atleast basement parking. The car turned very dusty after parking the in the open space. After telling them specifically they gave their staffs parking. Coming to rooms, they are very small in size and not upto the mark. They were clean. Very small bathrooms. Food was below average for breakfast. Coffee, idli and omlette were pathetic. Dosa was good. Staffs in the restaurant were quick and responsive. Wifi and power sucks here. There was a lot of power fluctuation throughout the second day night and the AC was turning off and the room turned hot in few minutes. Again lift was also not working during power off. Luckily we were in the first floor. The staff helped in bringing it down to the car. Wifi was horrible on the first day of arrival. They have some hyder Ali era technics, for connecting with wifi . It was damn slow. After repeatedly saying they claimed to increase the speed. But the wifi was not speed enough. When asked for the connection with tv due to slow wifi and paying about 11k in advance such a pathetic service. When complained about the same, one of the reception staff was saying that it is a free wifi and not part of 11k we paid. He was just refuting and not accepting that their wifi is poor. After an hour of follow up it worked. Very poorly maintained gym as told by my husband. Location was not good. The area was over crowded and lots of vehicles on the streets. I have paid the entire amount so had to stay over a pathetic stay, definitely not with your money.

Room was very clean. Room service was very good we entered the room and fridge was not working as soon as we called reception they have changed the same. It is near egmore railway station so location was also nice . Highly recommended hotel in Chennai .

The hotel is located in a residential area ,close to all important places In chennai ,but the only issue is the food takes too long to arrive if ordered,I haven't stayed in their rooms since I live very close by,i have ordered a la carte in their resturant ,the food takes a long time to arrive . The taste of the food was good though , service was good too. Next time I would suggest order 20 min before u arrive and by the time u arrive around 30 min later ,the food wil be served

Really Nice place, Food was excellent, Ambience and Hospitality was too good, Except the locality everything was Star hotel category, must try their non veg starters
