*"Terrible Experience at Janani Lodge – Misleading and Overpriced" If I could give 0 or minus stars, then I would!!! I recently stayed at Janani Lodge in Manipal, and it was an extremely disappointing experience that I feel compelled to share so that other travelers don’t fall into the same trap. We called ahead to book a *DELUXE AC ROOM* and specifically requested a room on the ground or first floor, as I have osteoarthritis and stairs are challenging for me. The staff assured us that a first-floor room was available with all the amenities we needed (hot water geyser, two beds) at a rate of ₹2000 per night. However, upon arrival: - We discovered that the *reception itself is on the first floor*, making the lodge challenging to access from the start. - Despite our prior arrangement, we were initially assigned a room on the *second floor*. After a frustrating 1.5-hour wait and several requests, we were eventually moved to the first floor, but the room provided was far from what was promised. The issues with the room were countless: - It was not the deluxe room we had booked, just a basic AC room with poor maintenance. - There was *no geyser* for hot water, as promised. - The furniture was dusty, termite-ridden, and clearly neglected. We even encountered spiders and lizards in the room. - The toilet seat was shaky and seemed barely attached, and the only charging point didn’t work. Despite all of this, we were charged ₹2200 per night for a room that didn’t even meet basic standards of cleanliness, safety, or comfort. Given the time and the fact that we are two middle-aged women, we had no choice but to stay, but this is not an experience I would wish on anyone. If you are considering staying here, think twice. I would not recommend Janani Lodge, especially if you have mobility challenges or expect basic amenities to be as promised. This place is overpriced and the staff's promises are misleading.

It is located near Kasturba Hospital, with a shopping mall and theatre available nearby, both within a distance of 500 meters. Overall, a very nice lodge with both AC and non-AC rooms. Clean bathrooms with showers and hot water are provided. A restaurant and bar are available on the first floor. The rate for a non-AC room for 2 people is ₹800 per day, and for an AC room, it's ₹1800, though rates may vary in the future. A pub is also available on the ground floor. An auto stand is located just opposite the lodge, and small shops are available nearby.

Janani lodge is near Manippal Kasturba Medical College. It's Bar attached. Not better for Families.

I stayed for 3-4 days and it's amazing interior design entrance was good , Reception person also very cool and calm, nicely speaking person. Service persons and their behaviour also good no complaints on that, but the thing is Room's which I got Double bed it's tooo congestive(but clean and neat) and when you open door after you come back from outside it's tooo smells and hot, other than persons are good and service good neat and clean

since all the places in udupi was pre booked left with this hotel with no option. budget friendly but not so neat nd clean they even provide hot water only with time limit from mrng 6.30-8.30 wch is not sufficient

Decent lodge near manipal hospital @ affordable budget. Don't expect service of hotels.. service is not upto mark. But good place for decent stay. Most of the people who visit hospital will stay here so it is ok..

We took a non A/C room for ₹700. The room didn't have a dustbin. Hot water is only available from 6 to 8:30AM. One of the legs of the main table is slanted (we really don't know what happened to it). No hand shower for toilet uses. Drinking water is only supplied if asked promptly. No soaps or shampoos provided. No towel for drying us were available too. Bathrooms are clean but not squeaky clean (it's a Herculean task so we didn't mind that). Had 3 powercuts. The power switch outside our room was "mysteriously" switched off. We waited for almost 2 hours to later know from complaining that the switch was off.
