Nanda Lodge

A couple of days before I booked a family room in Nanda Lodge, Mettupalayam. It's very near to railway station and just opposite to the bus terminal. A good ambience to stay in a reasonable cost. A special mention on the supporting staff. All mandatory things are available around the location. A very good hotel to stay.

696 Rs. A fantastic price for a hotel. Rooms are clean, hot water is plentiful, bed very comfortable I chose non AC and the fan was more than adequate. Very central by the bus station and very close to the rail station. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. As in most Indian hotels toilet paper must be pursued. The only drawback is they do not have wifi which can be a problem in planning the next stages of your trip. I enjoyed it so much I stayed an extra day. They also organised an excellent laundry service. For breakfast and dinner they direct you to two close and very good restaurants The EMS Hotel and the Annapurna Hotel. Do stay there.

We were staying in Mettupalayam purely for the toy train to Ooty the following morning, the town otherwise having little to recommend it. The room was good value, large and cool. Hot water was available as was loo paper. Several restaurants were located nearby. This is a budget hotel and obviously one’s expectations need to be appropriate. We found it good value and clean. We also had a room away from the main road so it was not too noisy. Sadly the toy train was cancelled on the section from the train station, though we did get a taxi to Coonoor and picked up the train there, so we did see some of the view.

After a long day of travel we arrived at Nanda Lodge ...minus 1 bag. Realising we had left it at a restaurant in Coimbatore we spoke with the Proprietor about the best way to retrieve it and still catch the early morning train to Ooty. After some consideration and discussion we were provided with a solution. Our missing bag was at the hotel by 10pm and we made the train the following morning ! Amazing ! We also received assistance trying to get our mobile phone to work but that is another story. ||||Nanda Lodge is a simple hotel walking distance from the train station and across the road from the market and bus station, easy to reach and for provisions. The room rate is commensurate with the accommodation but the kindness patience and knowledge of the Proprietor is priceless. We were very fortunate to find such hospitality.

I booked AC room in this lodge but Ac was not working. If asking reception they behavior was rude and this people are cheaters. Please don't pay full amount before itself. If you pay they will definitely cheat us. Better avoid this kind of lodge even though it is opposite to bus stand. My humble request avoid this cheaters. Even other lodge don't pay amount before itself. Tell them will pay after checkout.

If you are catching the 7.10 Toy Train to Ooty, This hotel is only minutes from the station and is good for a nights stay. Pretty basic but clean. The shower worked (just) and the bed was as hard as sleeping on the floor but the staff were nice enough

It doesn't request one Star itself. Very very bad staff and behavior. They only need your money. There is no justification for your money. Booked a AC room but AC was not working whole day. If ask they will reply badly. Don't ever pay full amount before. This People's are Cheaters they don't know respect. Tell them I pay remaining amount at the time of check out. Please humble request avoid this lodge. Only plus it's location. But for that it is not worth.

The hotel is located in front of main bus stand of the town and in the market area, which offers a lot of convenience. Rail station is within walking distance. The hotel is average, with small room size. Washroom is clean and well maintained. They do not have any restaurant, but plenty of options are available in the vicinity.
