NillIt's a great picture to capture the pics of many varieties of birds, also good for bird watching. Food is really great.. All staffs are good. Manager Nadaf is really a great person. Stay (both room and dormentory) are great option, neat and clean. Ample area for car parking. You can visit timber depot, they will take you. But it will be for a very short duration. So if you are a photographer you would want to extend your stay. You can see 3 types of hornbill. Malsbar grey, malabar pied & great indian hornbill. Vehicle charge they take 1500. If you are sharing you can split the amount. Vinayak is a best person to help you see many birds. He is a bird guide.

NillIt's a birder's / bird photographer's paradise. You get to see and photograph many varieties of Western ghat species of birds in and around the property. You can also sight many amazing insects, spiders, butterflies, lizards, snakes, etc. The staff is very courteous, the food is delicious and the rooms and the dormitory are very comfortable to stay. You can also do some water activities like river rafting. A guided trek will also be arranged if you're interested. Overall a very nice and peaceful place to spend in nature.

NillPerfect place for nature lovers. Away from the urban hustle bustle, if you wish to experience tranquility this is the place to be. Enjoy hundreds of colourful birds at the bird hide or in the premises with expert guides and naturalists. Morning bird trails or visit to the timber depot is an awesome experience. Food is superb and hospitality is at its best.

NillI visited Old Magazine House in December 2023 with my wife. This is a place dedicated to bird watching experience. The rooms are good and mostly full during weekends and holidays so one needs to book well in advance. It gets really crowded during weekends and many families come with their kids. So better avoid extended weekends. The staff is helpful and courteous. The premises are maintained and have an abundance of bird activity. The food is delicious and served fresh. The morning nature trails were amazing and cannot be skipped. We saw a lot of birds. Must visit place for bird watching.

NillThe place seems to have outlived its hype as a birders paradise as other places are fast catching up or even getting better.

NillHad an amazing stay here for 3 days at Old Magazine House. The location is top notch, you don’t even have to leave the area to go birdwatching. They also take you to good birding places and up the hill to watch an incredible view. The service is also incredible, they help you with all your questions and make some amazing food. This has been one of the most incredible trips I’ve been on and it’s all thanks to Old Magazine House.

NillA must-visit place for birdwatching. They have set up bird baths and perches for the birds and the birds seem to enjoy visiting the bird baths, as much as the bird enthusiasts who wait for them at the hides. You see so many birds everywhere on the property and you have an option to visit the Timber depot(that is a few km away) in the early mornings with the resident guide(if you stay there) or just roam around the property. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the birds and would help with spotting the birds and identifying them. The food was good(healthy & nutritious, buffet style) and the rooms were clean and maintained well. There was no mobile network(for Airtel) and the wifi range was very limited(to the buildings-cottages & cafetaria; but we didn't even need it. We were busy enjoying the birds, food and conversations with the fellow guests & staff). Totally worth the price. Would have extended our stay for a few more days, but it was fully booked for the next few days(The rooms are very less in number in contrast to the very high demand). We checked in around afternoon and spent only a night there(it was the only empty slot we could find) and had to check out the next day(after the visit to the Timber depot) around 11am, but stayed for lunch(paid for it) and for more birdwatching, until late afternoon/evening. Apparently, you can also just visit the hides during the day, without booking a stay. Winter months(especially December) seem to be the busiest times of the year(we visited a few days before Christmas). Would definitely visit again and stay longer next time
