Punnamada Resort

We ended our Kerala trip at this heritage-themed resort, expecting a comfortable stay given the high price, but it was a big disappointment. Upon check-in, the manager was unwelcoming, and when we had questions, he brushed them off, saying he'd address them after completing the process. Unlike other resorts, there were no complimentary baby food or extra mattress offers; everything was chargeable. The resort seemed understaffed, with employees not even in uniforms, which is surprising for a 4-star property. We stayed in rooms 701-705, which were not well-maintained. Some lights were missing or broken, and others were hanging by wires. The bathroom was unpleasant, with insects and muddy-tasting water, which felt unhygienic. The atmosphere was eerie, and we felt like we were the only guests there. Even though the surroundings had beautiful greenery and backwaters, the resort made no effort to create a lively or enjoyable environment. Overall, it's overpriced and doesn't offer value for money. We wouldn't recommend staying here.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The resort is maintained well. If you're driving down here roads leading up to the resort are a little narrow so, one has to be careful. The resort ooks exactly like it is in the pictures. Gives a nice old world charm. Small town vibes. The rooms are connected at the roof so, noises from the adjacent room can be heard, which was a little off. Had breakfast here, food is average with decent spread. Fine for breakfast. Staff is sweet.

Book only if you are fine with different kind of insects scrolling in your room / bathroom. There are some pluses as well as punnamada lake is accessible from inside swimming pool is there. They charges to high still provide drinking water in non sealed glass bottle which you can't be sure from where it's coming. Water coming in tap taste like unhygienic lake water and is muddy. All in one not the perfect and safe stay.

Well maintained resort with decent set of things to do. The North Indian food was pretty good and even the breakfast menu was decent. Loved the stay here. This resort is facing the backwaters so spending time at the restaurant / common areas was blissful. ||They also have a boating session @ Rs 500 per person in the evening for 1 hour in the backwaters, but I would suggest if you have to experience the real backwaters, pls hire a canoe for 3 hours and go to the deeper parts.||Suggestions to the team (nothing to complain)- |1. You should keep the tandoor items even during lunch because as a vegetarian, if you remove the tandoor items, there are very few items left on the menu.|2. Some maintenance is required at the Table tennis, carrom, other activities which were mentioned but not there. |3. High tea can be provided even for guests who are not taking the boat ride. Doesn't cost much but gives a good experience. Also, the banana pakoda tasted terrible and was floating in oil. Can give some dry snacks instead. ||Overall, apart from the small suggestions above, nothing to complain really and would recommend this resort for sure.

We stayed in their garden view room (701). While the property itself is beautiful, the room we stayed in was below average, particularly the bathroom, which was in poor condition. It had issues like seepage, a roof made of tin sheeting, and water leaking through it. Additionally, a couple of lights in the room were not working.

While the location and ambiance of Punnamada Resort in Alappuzha are undeniably beautiful, offering stunning views of the backwaters, my experience during my recent stay left much to be desired. The resort's surroundings are serene, creating a peaceful environment ideal for relaxation. However, several aspects of the service were disappointing. The room was not well-prepared upon our arrival. Essential amenities such as bath towels and shower gels were missing, and the bed had not been properly made—it appeared to have been arranged days earlier, with no fresh touches. Unfortunately, our comfort was further compromised by an infestation of mosquitoes hidden inside the bedsheets, along with the presence of bed bugs, making it impossible for my family and me to get a restful night’s sleep. Additionally, the restaurant service was subpar, with staff lacking professionalism and experience in providing quality service. The lack of attention to detail in both room preparation and dining significantly affected the overall experience. Despite paying Rs 8750 for a night's stay in a heritage villa, the overall lack of maintenance and trained staff left me thoroughly disappointed. Given my experience, I would not recommend this resort to others.

Not recommended!! Dry old and dilapidated furniture which is full of a layer of dust Lizard infested rooms Very unfriendly and indifferent staff except for Ms Sofia who was very sympathetic and solution oriented. Rest of the staff didn’t care much and acted like very angry in-laws! Stay was very mentally stressful and was waiting to get out sooner Food was okay and the staff hung around as if waiting for us to leave sooner Not suitable for elderly who would struggle walking Poor network connectivity and almost zero WiFi connectivity TV gives mostly south language based options Inattentive staff and lacks customer service orientation. If you're looking for a serene escape with great service and stunning views, Punnamada Resort is quite recommended!
