Our Land Island Backwater Boutique Resort

We enjoyed being able to watch all the houseboats pass by from our great viewpoint in the treehouse - this seemed a much better option than actually being on one of the houseboats! Friendly staff and Ratheesh the manager is very knowledgeable about the bird life. We enjoyed the early morning village walk with him as well as the sunset canoe trip with lovely guy whose name I've sadly forgotten (he also met our taxi at the start and took us back at the end.) Food was very good throughout. One day we took the local ferry from the nearest landing point and enjoyed our meandering (and extremely economical) boat trip into Allappuzha - although after a very short time there we decided to come back to the peace and calm of Our Land! Sunrise here was also stunning. PS we followed a good tip in other reviews and asked the taxi driver to make a detour so that we could pick up some beer at the government beer shop on our way from the station, which the resort put into the fridge for us.

Lower ratings are due to wrong expectations. It's a wonderful serene retreat on the backwaters. It's a place to just lay back and watch the world go by. The resort also offers free canoe rides and rice paddy and village walks. The rates include full board. The rooms are amongst the cleanest and most comfortable we have experienced in all of India. It's activity eco friendly. I do not think you can expect more. We booked two nights and after the first night we looked at the options to extend our stay.

this is a great resort. Staff were very helpful and friendly...it felt like family. We had a cottage right on the backwaters so saw many of the boats go by. Although we didn't get to go on one of the houseboats, we were only there overnight, staff showed us their houseboat. And, we had a great motorized canoe trip on the backwater, so got the idea of what that is. Food was good, room was comfortable, the shower was warm....

We had a surprising experience at Our Land in Alleppey. We stayed st the treehouse after being picked up by canoe. The staff were vety friendly and took us on a sunset canoe ride in the evening, as well as on a village walk early morning. Beautiful views! The food was delicious. This resort is not luxurious but it is a unique experience and much nicer than the over-commercialised houseboats. If you want to relax and get away from the hustle and noise you cant go wrong.

This is my second time here. Took a friend here after our backing trip to take things slow. The best place to relax and take slow travel, this is your spot. From village walk to the food everything is great. Ratheesh know what’s he doing, a best bird watcher, educated us with all the details about the flood and cause. Banu chettan canoed us to watch one amazing sunset of our life.||||Food is amazing, property is clean and the employees are friendly. Our heart(stomach) is full.||||Thank you for such an amazing stay.

Definitely my highlight stay in Kerala so far! Amazing calm place, beautiful house, the most delicious food i ever had in India and super friendly staff! Definitely recommended to everyone to stay here at least 2-3nights and enjoy the beautiful nature around, backwaters and birds flying around! I am coming back soon with my family and friends as i want to experience this place with them as well! Thank you Ratheesh and Janeesh ;) Xoxo

We loved this place! After the noise and pollution of other cities, arriving at the island and being taken by canoe to our treehouse was great! the staff are very friendly and make your stay a pleasure. The food was delicious! We will definitely come back!

If you want to watch tv in the bed room and relax this is not right place for you. This place is in an island and very silent and far away from the usual disturbances and stress we face in daily life. I had very relaxing weekend there. Enjoyed fishing 🎣, canoeing 🛶 and village walk. Food was awesome. Breakfast lunch and dinner provided so that you can spend whole day in the island without depending on outside restaurants. Good place for bird watching
