★★★★★This is a must go place if you want to be away from the buzz of a busy working life. The scenic beauty and the tranquil surrounding made me feel relaxed and happy. If you are a bird watcher then this a great place to be,to see some amazing birds. The Great Indian Hornbill was an eye-catching sight. My son and I enjoyed being here every bit, the staff are hospitable and so is the food. Thanks to all who made my stay a memorable one.

NillThis is a place for nature lovers who love the wild and healthy adults. Not recommended for kids and the elderly. It's like a Jungle estate house. Don't expect room service. Rooms have basic amenities. Food is an issue. Set fixed menu with very few items, no a-la-carte, fixed timings for the restaurant. The staff is welcoming. Please carry umbrellas for the rains and snacks for your cravings. Lighting inside the room is very low to avoid attracting insects. The Place is nested in one remote location and access road is narrow. The drive from conoor station to the plantation stay was the best part driving between tea gardens is a wonderful experience.

★★★★We travelled to Oland in the first week of June, just as the monsoon set in. The plantation is just gorgeous at this time, with the skies constantly changing from sunny and blue to stormy and grey in seconds. We also saw some gorgeous rainbows|Oland plantation has 3 houses on the property - the Estate house (stay here if you’re travelling with senior citizens or small kids) which has a small lobby area and the dining room. The second one is Pepper House, you have to climb down 50 steps to access that and then Hornbill house is the third which is the farthest away. Remember all meals are served at Estate House, so it’s a bit of a hike if you’re staying in any of the other 2 houses. The houses are made with local materials and everything here has a low carbon footprint. Meals are mainly made with produce either grown on the property or locally sourced. The food cooked by Gokul is fresh, tasty and homely. Sam, the manager, is a keen birder and took us out each day for a plantation walk and showed us an incredible variety of birds. Our only regret was that we didn’t get to see the Great Indian Hornbill. There are over a 150 varieties of birds seen in this region and my room had a handy booklet with details about them. We were a group of 3 women and 2 children travelling and we were made to feel very safe and comfortable by the management of Oland. My friends reached the resort late at night and the manager Sam went out to guide them for the last few km in heavy rain, so a big shout out to him! |This is a no-frills property with a limited staff, so don’t expect room service or snacks on tap. But if you want some time in nature there aren’t too many places nicer than this!

★★★What was good?|Away from the city, the location is great. The view of the Nilgiris mountains is fantastic. The kids thoroughly enjoyed running around the estate. If one is interested in birding, the estate offers a good variety. ||What needs improvement?|The service is below par.|(1) We were asked to contact the manager for queries on the property. But, he doesn't respond to phone calls at all!|(2) The dining area isn't big enough to host all the guests at once. Also, they are understaffed to serve all guests at once. Either rotis are available, but not the curry or viceversa! They take 15-20 mins to serve coffee. Food wasn't hot(they dont have the means to keep food hot)!|(3) We were there for 2 nights. The food on day one was very average:| There was no local food, no sign of vegetables in spite of being in a tea estate.|(4)We turn up early at 7.00 am for the 7.15 trek. The coffee is served by 7.20, the manager turns up by 7.30 am!|(5) The towels weren't replaced!
