Fu Dog

If you didn’t know that Taiwan is one of the few surfing destinations in Asia (apart from Bali and Pukhet), now you do. A friend of ours told us about Fu Dog Surf. He is a surfer from Sydney, Australia.....so his standards were pretty high. My husband is also a surfer. We both loved it. The beach is nice, but what really makes it is Sammy, the owner of Fu Dog Surf.||||The weather was good. The beach is quite clear and white sand. Sammy is an English speaker (with an American background) and also speaks some Taiwanese (his wife, a local, also speaks both). He is a great guy and is really friendly. He will sit down and have a drink with you or go to a cafe with you if he has the time. He gives surfing and body boarding lessons.||||This is an affordable place. Sammy's B&B offers great value for money. I really liked the rooms as well. Our room was big and had a large ensuite too. We were literally across the road from the beach so we could see it from your window. Sammy made good breakfasts (they were different every day). My favourites were the Taiwanese dumplings that he bought from a local shop (be sure to ask him about these).||||The vibe of the beach town is very chilled out. There are a lot of Taiwanese students who go there for their holidays, evidently. The beach was filled with them. There is quite a happening strip a few minutes drive away, with night markets and all kinds of restaurants. ||||There is enough to do to keep you busy for about a week (beach in the day, out at night).||||You should fly into Kaoshiung airport. However, if you want to go to Tapei, then you can get a fast train down to Kaoshiung. From Kaoshiung, you need to get a taxi to Nan Wan. Be sure to contact Sammy first, preferably before you leave, so that he can organise a taxi to pick you up and bring you to Nan Wan, where the B&B is. He will negotiate a good price for you.||||The Taiwanese in general are extremely helpful and friendly. For example, we got stopped in the street asking if we needed directions, when locals spotted us with a map in Taipei. Our taxi driver got out and bought us a cappucino each, on the house, for a long journey from Kaoshiung to Nan Wan (about one hour, from memory).

如果你之前不知道台湾是亚洲为数不多的冲浪胜地之一（除了巴厘岛和普吉岛），现在你知道了。我们的一位朋友向我们推荐了福狗冲浪（Fu Dog Surf）。他是一位来自澳大利亚悉尼的冲浪爱好者……所以他对这里的要求很高。我的丈夫也是一位冲浪爱好者。我们俩都非常喜欢这里。海滩很漂亮，但真正让这里脱颖而出的是福狗冲浪的老板Sammy。天气很好。海滩清澈，沙子洁白。Sammy会说英语（他有美国背景），也会说一些台语（他的妻子是当地人，两种语言都会说）。他是个很棒的人，非常友好。如果有时间，他会坐下来和你喝一杯，或者陪你去咖啡馆。他提供冲浪和趴板课程。这里价格实惠。Sammy的民宿性价比很高。我也很喜欢房间。我们的房间很大，还有一个很大的独立浴室。我们住的地方就在海滩对面，所以从窗户就能看到海滩。Sammy做的早餐很棒（每天都不一样）。我最喜欢的是他从当地小店买的台湾饺子（一定要问问他）。||||这个海滨小镇的氛围非常悠闲。显然，很多台湾留学生都会来这里度假。海滩上到处都是他们。开车几分钟就能到一条很热闹的街，那里有夜市和各种各样的餐厅。||||这里有很多活动，足够你玩上一周左右（白天在海滩，晚上出去玩）。||||你应该飞到高雄机场。不过，如果你想去台北，可以坐高铁到高雄。从高雄到南湾，你需要打车。一定要提前联系Sammy，最好是在你出发前，这样他可以安排出租车来接你到南湾，也就是民宿所在的位置。他会帮你争取到好价钱。||||台湾人普遍都非常乐于助人且友善。例如，我们在台北街头拿着地图时，被当地人拦下来问路。我们的出租车司机下车后，免费给我们每人买了一杯卡布奇诺，要知道从高雄到南湾的路程很长（我记得大约一个小时）。
