翰庭酒店

I think several of the reviews here are not for the hotel actually at this address. As a few people have noted, this hotel is not part of the 'Hanting' chain. This hotel is dismal. The worst hotel we've stayed at across 6 cities in China and 9 months in China. It's not just 'a bit dirty' or 'a bit worse for wear' - it's barely fit for a place to crash after a night out (why we stayed!).|| ||If you want a budget room to sleep and shower in, you can do substantially better for your money -- check out a Motel 168 or a 7 Days Inn or the like. ||||The walls were filthy with splashes of who-knows-what, the bathroom was mouldy and the sink/shower in clear need of some bleach, there was a thick (and I mean *thick*) layer of dust covering absolutely everything, and most furniture in the room was in serious need of repair. ||No 'ceiling' light in our room, just bedside lamps.|| Windows single-glazed and not able to close properly.||Wires and pipes covered with masking tape and draped all over the place. Covered in dust, obviously.|| Lift and communal areas are similarly grim -- giant tub of laundry didn't move during our stay there, and there was litter (bottles, packets, etc) on the floors of the corridors. ||No hairdryer in room or available to borrow at front desk. ||No useable free toiletries (the 'shampoo' didn't even foam up). ||Toilet roll wasn't even proper toilet roll. ||No regard for smoking restrictions, and the poor quality of the doors etc means that you will be able to smell the smoke from other peoples rooms in your own.||||There were not only prostitute business cards under your door, but littered all over the floors of the corridors. By the sound of it, there are many sex workers operating out of rooms there (there is no sound insulation at all).||||Staff didn't take copies of our passports, or even ask to see them -- which I'm pretty sure is negligence on their part and could get us into trouble for not registering with the police.

The main draw of this hotel is the fact that you will pay a very low price for a clean, air conditioned room. This was fine for the purposes of my stay, but do not expect more than that. The area is a locals' area, which means there is a great opportunity in the morning to walk along the street and see the mass of food sellers stood in doorways. If you are expecting tourist bars/shops, this is not it, but all that is a short taxi or metro ride away, it is only two stops from East Nanjing Road.

Stayed here with two others (all three are uni students) in a triple room for three nights. Got a decent price of $198 AUD for all three nights.|Rooms are clean, bathrooms are ageing. |Good for people who just was a bed and don't care much about the room.|It's better if you know Chinese when dealing with the front counter.||The place is definitely very old but not dilapidated. The area is an interesting mix of the old Shanghai and new shopping complexes that have been built less than 300 metres away.|Don't expect any taxis to want to pick you up or drop you off from the hotel.|The North Sichuan Station is 5 minutes away so head there and go to East Nanjing Road.

位置虽然不错，在民住小区，不过有点难找，离黄埔江不远，半小时路程左右。附近治安很一般，单身女士不建议夜晚外出(除非坐taxi出入)。|酒店据说是百年建筑，外表是不错，不过在市井之地，有点格格不入。酒店里面灯光昏暗，幸好服务人员工作态度ok，房间条件中下，有热水，不过去水情况很差，不管是洗手盆或洗澡间。房间灯光不足，有一阵奇怪味道，床铺干净度不足，我和朋友只能安慰自己「因为是百年历史的地方，所以才会欠佳」所以我们只住了一晚，就去莫泰168了，我们对连锁和公式化的酒店很满意，有基本就行了。

We ended up in this hotel by accident, thinking it was part of the Hanting chain of hotels, which are much better. (Same English/pinyin name: Hanting; different Chinese name in characters! Tricky, these people.) We were thus initially disappointed, but it turned out alright. The staff were friendly and one man at the desk spoke amazing English (I spoke in Mandarin with the others.) The room was quiet, A/C, clean enough, comfortable beds and pillows. There's a kettle and coffee cups, too. The building is very shabby though, lots of broken and broken-looking things. I'd almost say it's ugly, but it works, the people are nice, and the room is cheap.||||Only problem we had (check-in was very easy) was the Internet. No WiFi! Only ethernet connection in the room, but it only worked for the first few hours. After that, nothing. Thankfully one night when I needed to send a few emails the night clerk downstairs let me use the front desk computer!

Like the place is rundown, dirty hallways broken and dirty rooms with temporary cheap fixes, But its not bad at all for the price you pay the double room i pay 120rmb a night that has two beds full working air con, working hot water and basic hotel toiletries tooth brush etc. Like thats a massive steal. Especially since close to all cheap hotels donot allow foreigners at their properties.|||| if your not to bothered with the little dirt and worn out furniture and fittings ,spend little time in the room this place is awesome. For one you get a room to yourself that sleeps 4. staff are friendly and no room deposit required at all so check in and out is as fast as it gets. ||||Call girls cards are widely thrown under every door and visible in hallways. Area wise its basically downtown and a 5 minute walk from the Metro Station which within 3 stops gets you to most of every major tourist attraction. Small Chinese Stores directly outside the entrance for chinese food, snacks and drinks. Big malls just 5 minutes walk away.||||My new Shanghai weekend Hotel with the Jitai Chain down Peoples square and juggle between each.

卫生一般，设施一般，卫生连一般都算不上，内天晚上我去住，晚上已经没人住了已经是空房了我才去住的。内床单上还有别的头发，我当时就让他们直接换一块，墙角内边有点发霉了一样，电视跟空调不是特别新，空调上面内盖还掉了，没有内个盖了，位置不好找，就这样还谈舒适度，只能说3个字，：脏、乱、差。

Stayed in Shanghai Han Ting Hotel, 27 Luo Fu Rd, Shanghai, in March 2005. One block from shopping street Sichuan Rd North. Newly-built hotel, about 130 rooms, in old part of Puxi Shanghai which is not yet torn down and re-developed. Great bargain at RMB250/night. Clean rooms with heater/aircond, electronic security, Chinese restaurant on ground floor. Rated 2 stars. Popular with tour groups. Not very pleasant area if you like to walk around the hotel, but taxis are so cheap anyway in Shanghai - just take a cab to Nanjing Rd East or the Xiang Yang Market for RMB12.||
