The White House Hotel

We visited Dali in the Yunnan Provence which is a popular vacation spot for Chinese and international visitors. The city is on a beautiful lake at the foot of the Himalayan Mountains with crystal clear air and an amazing history and culture. ||With the increase in tourism, many new luxury hotels, restaurants and shops have opened. Our hotel, the White Manor, was a lovely combination of high end accommodations and beautiful design and located in the heart of the Dali Bai neighborhood. ||The owners (one is a native of the Bai people) were beyond warm and welcoming and served delicious meals and provided everything we could ask for. Our room had a spectacular view of the lake and provided the most incredible sunrise. ||The hotel has several outdoor gardens and areas to sit and the inside breakfast area and second floor bar have a Midwest American feel but still traditional style of Bai culture. ||In Dali Bai near our hotel, we visited the UNESCO Butterfly Gardens, a local Bai market, and several interesting temples and museums. The Bai people could not have been nicer and our visit to the hotel was amazing. ||While there, our hosts hired a driver to take us to the much larger downtown Dali area to explore and also to the old town area (our favorite) which was lively, fun, and full of incredible shops and restaurants and things to do. ||I would highly recommend the White Manor and can’t wait to go back!

我们游览了云南省的大理，这里是国内外游客的热门度假胜地。这座城市坐落在喜马拉雅山脚下美丽的湖泊旁，空气清新，拥有悠久的历史和丰富的文化。随着旅游业的蓬勃发展，许多新的豪华酒店、餐厅和商店如雨后春笋般涌现。我们入住的大理白苑酒店，完美融合了高端住宿和精美设计，位于大理白族聚居区的中心地带。酒店的主人（其中一位是白族人）热情好客，为我们准备了美味佳肴，并满足了我们的一切需求。我们的房间拥有壮丽的湖景，还能欣赏到令人叹为观止的日出。酒店设有多个户外花园和休憩区，室内早餐区和二楼酒吧则带有浓郁的美国中西部风情，同时又保留了白族文化的传统韵味。在酒店附近的大理白族聚居区，我们参观了联合国教科文组织世界遗产蝴蝶园、当地的白族市场以及几座有趣的寺庙和博物馆。白族人民热情友好，我们在酒店的体验也十分美好。在白屋期间，我们的房东帮我们雇了一位司机，带我们去了更大的市中心大理区游览，还去了老城区（我们最喜欢的地方），那里热闹非凡，到处都是令人惊叹的商店、餐厅和各种好玩的地方。我强烈推荐白屋，迫不及待地想再次入住！

The service is unbeatable. The view is once in your lifetime if you can book the rooms facing to the lake and watch the view in the morning for the sunrise, it is breathtaking and ever changing, too. They have two large dining area, one in the base floor and one on the second floor. Both very high level with bar that is totally westernized and decorations that show great tastes.||It has unblocked view through a flower lot and a farmland into the lake, unlike many other hotels that have their views blocked by high walls. On the back is the famous Canhsha mountains that are mystic and majestic in the constant layers of clouds.

The White Manor Inn is located just a few blocks from both the UNESCO Biodiversity Park, but also the large butterfly sanctuary, the aromatherapy station and the streets where the Bai people have their food and crafts. Tom Gehl and his wife Sarah are great hosts and have a taste for the luxurious—the rooms all have a rich and colorful feel, have high end appliances, and has a great view of the lake and mountains. Sarah is Bai and has a unique and helpful insight into Dali’s history, arts, and culture. You will enjoy your stay here!!!

A beautiful relatively unspoiled village and the heart of the Bai Minority People and Culture. ||One of the surprising gems in this charming village is a Luxurious Boutique hotel called White Manor Hotel. Though the rest of the village is like stepping back in time the White Manor is like stepping into another dimension. This elegant romantic manor makes you feel like you’re been transported out of China to Europe or the USA The elegance of decor and how you are treated is spectacular. ||||From High Tea or Bia Tea everything is done beautifully. Exquisitely appointed rooms with soaking tubs and separate showers allows you to fully relax and let your stress melt away. ||||1 KM to the east is the pristine Lake Erhai with spectacular sunrises viewed from your bed in the east building. 1 KM to the west are the Sacred Changsha Mountains which are the foothills of the mighty Himalayas. ||||250 m north is the top tourist spot in the area The Butterfly Springs famous in song and film. 250 m to the south is the Famous Bai Tie Dye museum and educational center where you can learn to make your own tie dye clothing. ||||This entire village is enveloped in the UNESCO Eco Park which only a few areas in the world have this special Environmental Designation. The area is 2000 meters high. Zero pollution and a healing spirit for the entire area. Do yourself a favor and visit this unique special place soon. It can be your own Brigadoon.
