Jumanyuan House

My partner and I booked through booking.com seeing the great reviews. This is a simple home stay that offers a traditional insight to Chinese hospitality and culture. The rooms are basic, we had a twin with small en-suite including toiletries and towels. The owners do not speak English but used google translate to communicate with us, along with hand signals we managed fine. It is located 4km from entrance to the Water Town but we called our host from the info desk inside after catching the bus from Beijing, and he picked us up. The next day after a hearty breakfast costing just 15 yuan our host took us to the Jinshaling section of Great Wall, having organised the tickets in advance for us. He picked us up after and they made us lunch before catching the return bus home. Very lovely people, would highly recommend staying if you’re not fussed on needing a flash hotel.

我和我的伙伴通过 booking.com 预订了房间，看到了好评。这是一家简单的寄宿家庭，提供对中国热情好客和文化的传统见解。房间很基本，我们住的是一间双床间，配有小套间浴室，包括洗浴用品和毛巾。业主不会说英语，但使用谷歌翻译与我们交流，还有我们处理得很好的手势。它距离水乡入口有4公里，但我们从北京乘公共汽车后，在里面的服务台给我们的主人打电话，他来接我们。第二天，用了15元的丰盛早餐后，主人提前帮我们订好了门票，带我们去了金沙岭长城。之后他来接我们，他们给我们做了午餐，然后乘回程巴士回家。非常可爱的人，如果您不介意需要一家豪华酒店，强烈建议您入住。

WHEN I REMEMBER THIS PLACE INSLMOST CRY 😅🥲 this has Belen after traveling 70 COUNTRIES THE BEST STAY OF ALL. THEY TRETED ME LIKE A SON, they offer food, transport they can take you to JINSHANGLING GREAT WALL, they offer you for 40 yuan breakfast, for 50 yuan dinner, 200 yuan go and bring back to JINSHANGLING it is pretty good prices the night is about 250 yuan for 2 persons . The host and his wife help alot, they picked tu up in theiR SUV at Goubei Water Town at night after exploring only asked to pay 20 yuan . They are fasntastink you can book in Booking! They do no have whassstap but they have We Chat. This is the best Stay in all China. Don’t even think I’m other hotel this is the best for you !

We stayed as a group of friends at this lovely guesthouse close to the wall. They offered us a lift to and from Beijing for a very competitive price! We visited Gubei Water Town, Simatai section and Panglonshan section of the Great Wall. The couple drove us to each of these areas for a small price. They also provided filling breakfast, lunch and dinner for a small price. Really simple guesthouse and extremely helpful couple! Would highly recommend for proximity.

我们和一群朋友一起住在这家靠近城墙的可爱宾馆。他们以非常有竞争力的价格为我们提供往返北京的乘车服务！我们参观了古北水镇、司马台长城和旁龙山长城。这对夫妇开车送我们去了这些地区，价格不高。他们还以低廉的价格提供丰盛的早餐、午餐和晚餐。非常简单的宾馆和非常乐于助人的夫妇！强烈推荐靠近。

We were booked to stay at Jumanyuan Folk Inn (also known online as Jumanyuan House) this month but due to the authorities recently closing Jinshanling Great Wall for renovations, we have tonight decided to cancel our trip to this area and will head to another part of the wall at Jiankou. So I can not review this property as someone staying there but I can review the service we received and that was outstanding! Quick to reply on requests, helpful in every way possible including very competitive car transfers from Beijing, they filled every hole we had, whether a taxi to the wall or storing our bags while we trip around. 5 star service and I wish them all the best in their business which I think they recently took over. We will come to walk Jinshanling and climb Simatai next year and without any doubt, we will stay with J-House :)

I was staying for a night and followed the instructions on how to get there given by the owner. The entrance at first look just like a normal home but they do have the sign 聚满元 outside. Was greeted by the wife and immediately welcomed me into the home. The husband offered to drive me to and back to Gubei water town. Ate my dinner and breakfast prepared by the friendly owner. It was simple but very nice, authentic for me with very generous portion. Owners couldn't speak English so I think they call their son for translation etc. However, I don't think that will be a big problem for non-Chinese speakers. The house is not inside the water town. Might be a bit far to the water town but the owners have no problem sending you around with small charges.

Vorweg das Positive: die Unterkunft liegt in einer der zahlreichen neu entstehenden Dörfer entlang des Flusses nahe der Gubeikou Water Town. Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich, das Zimmer sauber. Wir hatten den Transfer von Mutianyu nach Simatai und von dort zurück nach Peking über die Unterkunft gebucht, wir wurden sehr pünktlich abgeholt, auch brachte uns der Gastgeber(?) kostenlos mit dem Auto zur Watertown.||So weit, so gut. Erstes Problem war, dass niemand auch nur ein Wort Englisch sprach; da wir die Unterkunft auf Booking.com gebucht hatten und unsere e-mails immer prompt auf Englisch beantwortet wurden, waren wir davon ausgegangen, dass zumindest etwas Englisch gesprochen wurde. Das hat unsere Ausflugsplanung doch etwas erschwert. Die Kommunikation funktionierte so: der Chef rief jemanden an - wahrscheinlich dieselbe Person, die auch die e-mails geschrieben hatte - und dem mussten wir dann erklären, worum es ging. Dieser gab es dann wiederum an den Gastgeber weiter. Was doch mühselig war und zu Missverständnissen führte. ||Mehr ein Hinweis als ein Kritikpunkt: das Frühstück war rein chinesisch und bis auf das Ei und das Omelett (!) für uns sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig, obwohl wir da nicht pingelig sind. Unser 8-jähriger Sohn hat sich mit dem Ei begnügt...||Zum Zimmer: es war zwar sauber, aber die Betten so extrem steinhart, dass man kaum darauf schlafen konnte. Das Badezimmer machte einen schmuddeligen Eindruck und roch recht unangenehm. Das Hotel liegt wie gesagt in einer Neubausiedlung, vielleicht gibt es dort in Zukunft mehr Möglichkeiten, was das Essen betrifft, jetzt ist dort noch hauptsächlich Baustelle angesagt. Scheinbar werden hier aufgrund der Nähe zur Watertown und der Mauer eine Unmenge an Unterkünften hochgezogen, die vermutlich auf chinesische Touristen zugeschnitten sind.||Gegessen haben wir hier nicht, da wir es etwas ungemütlich fanden und uns doch sehr beobachtet fühlten. Der Kontrast zu unserer letzten Unterkunft (Flower Yard in Mutianyu) war leider für uns sehr spürbar, wir hatten auf eine gemütliche Unterkunft mit etwas mehr Flair gehofft.||Der Fahrer, der uns zurück nach Peking brachte, sparte dann noch auf unsere Kosten die Expresswaygebühren ein, wodurch wir uns stundenlang durch die kleineren Orte und nachher den Verkehr in Peking quälen mussten. Also falls möglich, unbedingt darauf bestehen, die Schnellstrasse zu nehmen!

首先是积极的方面：住宿位于古北口水镇附近众多沿河新兴村庄之一。主人非常友好，房间很干净。我们通过住宿预订了从慕田峪到司马台再从司马台返回北京的接送服务，非常准时的接我们，房东（？）还免费开车送我们去水城。||到目前为止，一切都很好。第一个问题是没有人会说英语。由于我们在 Booking.com 上预订了住宿，并且我们的电子邮件总是用英语及时回复，因此我们认为至少会说一些英语。这让我们的旅行计划变得更加困难。沟通是这样进行的：老板打电话给某人——可能是写电子邮件的同一个人——然后我们必须向他们解释这件事的内容。然后他将消息传递给了主人。这很乏味并导致误解。 ||更多的是注释而不是批评：早餐纯粹是中式的，除了鸡蛋和煎蛋卷（！），我们花了很多时间来适应，尽管我们对此并不挑剔。我们8岁的儿子就用鸡蛋凑合着……||关于房间：很干净，但床太硬了，几乎不可能睡在上面。浴室看起来很脏而且闻起来很难闻。正如我所说，酒店位于一个新开发项目中，也许将来在饮食方面会有更多选择，但目前主要还是建筑工地。显然，由于靠近沃特敦和长城，这里正在修建很多住宿设施，可能是为中国游客量身定做的。||我们没有在这里吃饭，因为我们觉得这里有点不舒服，感觉很受监视。不幸的是，与我们上次住宿（慕田峪花院）的对比对我们来说非常明显；我们本来希望有一个舒适且更有特色的住宿。||带我们回北京的司机为我们节省了高速公路费。 ，这意味着我们必须在较小的城镇和北京的交通中挣扎几个小时。所以如果可以的话，一定要坚持走高速公路！
