Yanlaixing Farmhouse

I stayed here 3 nights with my son and daughter to do some hiking on the unrestored parts of Jiankou Great Wall. We arranged a driver from Beijing and it took around 2,5 hours to get there. The village is surrounded by mountains and the wall can clearly be seen from the rooftop of the guesthouse. There are a couple of (strenuous) walking trails that lead up to different parts of the wall within 45min. The guesthouse is a typical ‘Chinese farmhouse’ stay and is run by a friendly family. Basic rooms around a communal area, where people eat and recreate. Over the weekend it can be quite busy with locals but otherwise it is very quiet. The rooms, although being a bit small and basic, are very clean and with ensuite and a ‘sitting toilet’. The shower has hot water and enough pressure. Mattresses in China are firm and this guesthouse is no exception. There is a restaurant and the family’s cooking is amazing and affordably priced. If you would like to experience authentic life in the village, close to the wall and enjoy a clean and affordable accommodation definitely visit this place.

我和儿子女儿在这里住了三个晚上，徒步游览了箭扣长城尚未修复的部分。我们从北京雇了一位司机，大约两个半小时才到达。村子四周群山环绕，从宾馆的屋顶可以清晰地看到长城。这里有几条（比较费力的）步行道，45分钟内即可到达长城的不同部分。这家宾馆是典型的“中国农家乐”，由一个友好的家庭经营。客房围绕着公共区域，人们在那里用餐和休闲。周末的时候，这里可能会挤满当地人，但除此之外，这里非常安静。房间虽然略显狭小和简陋，但非常干净，配有独立卫浴和“坐式马桶”。淋浴有热水，水压充足。中国的床垫很结实，这家宾馆也不例外。宾馆内有一家餐厅，这家人做的菜非常美味，价格也很实惠。如果您想体验真实的乡村生活，靠近城墙，享受干净且价格实惠的住宿，一定要来这个地方。
