My husband and I ended up staying at this hotel after our first hotel in Pingyao cancelled on us and our second hotel was completely closed when we arrived. I guess third time really is a charm because this hotel was perfect. The hotel itself looks just like the pictures online. It is very cute and has a very nice courtyard that you can sit outside and enjoy (although not necessarily when we were there in December). The room was nice and had a big comfy bed. It came with amenities like full-size shampoo and body wash as well as bottles of drinking water. The staff that helped us was super nice and helpful. He spoke English very well. He gave us a map of the city, explained where and how to buy passes for the city walls and the museums, and showed us various rooms to choose from. Some of the rooms are a bit small, but for the price it's a great deal.

Yes, an experience! Great central location from which you can walk (mind the scooters) everywhere in the ancient city and to the walls. || It was my birthday when we arrived so they kindly gave me a card and some lovely fruit. Thanks so much!|| The hotel is on 2 sides of the street but this doesn't affect the quiet nature of the hotel in a sometimes bustling town! The hotel building was used as a bank on the 19th century and much of the charm has been maintained! The Kang beds are very firm but we did sleep well! The room we stayed in was a ground floor room with a lounge area which was lovely. ||Breakfast - allow time to feast! Lots of excellent food on offer.

We stayed here two nights... Authentic ancient China experience ... Beautiful courtyard, old world style with plenty of charm ... Red and black traditional decore ... We stayed in the King room (up stairs). It was spacious and had a firm traditional Kang bed with bedside tables and additional side table, AC (absolute necessity for winter stay), tv, tea making facilities and very clean bathroom, which had a good supply of hot water. The shower was good, but watch for water spray as the shower curtain is short. The free breakfast is generous and coffee is hot. It is a short walk from the city centre ... 10 minutes. The north gate entrance is within 2 minutes walk. Highly recommended as the owners are a traditional old city family, who are very hospitable. The young man speaks English and was very helpful. He arranged transport to and from the station for a small fee for the driver. We throughly enjoyed the stay and would highly recommend it if you are a little adventurous and want an authentic experience with modern comforts.

We stayed here for 2 nights, March 20, 21. This is an awesome property in a beautiful ancient city. Authentic courtyard with a lovely temple and art work on site. The room is beautiful with antique beds.|||| It's right inside the city wall, so easy to walk in from the taxi from the high speed ancient city train station. Owner has lovely taste, adding in framed wall paper décor to add to the ambience. Owner speaks excellent English, arranged airport transfer for our train to Xian at 30 CNY. We had paid 40 CNY catching our own taxi when we arrived. He also arranged a taxi for the whole day, 250 CNY to Wang family courtyard and shauglin temple, picked us up at 7 am.|||| The lady gave us some traditional stickers as gift when we left. Thoroughly enjoyed the town and this hotel, a highlight among several other highlights in our 16 day vacation

Was very happy with this small boutique family run hotel. From the very first communication to the end of the stay, everything went very smoothly. Lovely rooms and good service by the manager. Handy to all the attractions. A bit hard to find as Taxis are unable to venture into the old city so a good GPS to walk by is important. I asked for a quiet room upstairs. Rooms are small but all you need for a busy holiday

Going to China one wants to learn about its people, history and culture. China is huge but it has a centre that played vital role in its development, this is Pingyao. So the first stop in China is this town, and its central point, encircled by ancient walls still almost intact as they were built hundreds of years ago. Within the walls, under the protection of UNESCO, is a true gem. Visiting the town you would want to be part of it, and where else but to stay in this hotel, all in the stile of the times gone by. First impression is a beautiful courtyard from which you enter directly your room, also in the traditional stile. Clean, but considering it is traditional Chinese stile it is magnificent in its simplicity. And the people who attend to you are very helpful going out of the way to help, and they speak English, great asset in China. And also they accept credit cards, also great asset, and without asking extra charge.

The hotel is perfect in term of location and in term of atmosphere. It is very close to the northern gate of the old city (inside the walls) and it’s good when the taxi drops you at the northern gate. The hotel structure is in line with the ancient atmosphere of Pingyao. Personnel is very kind and English speaking. Rooms are minimal but very clean. I would recommend this hotel to someone that want to visit the amazing old Pingyao.

We really enjoyed this small, charming hotel - but you need to be in the mood for a very authentic, not traditional hotel experience. We are a couple who stayed for 3 nights in Feb 2018. The hotel arranged a train station pickup for us, which worked well (although the driver tried to pickup other passengers as well, but didn't manage to get any.) The hotel is near the North Gate, which is great for buying Pingyao tourist tickets and visiting the Wall. However, it's a good 10 minute + walk into the main tourist area of town. I think this would be a benefit in the summer, but in the winter it's low-low season and it was just a cold walk. But we loved the traditional rooms, beds, decor, etc. ||Important to know:||- the AC/Heater unit worked really well - once we asked for help! (It's all in Chinese). So if your'e cold tell them, and they'll give you extra blankets and help with the heater.||- The first day they gave us Western breakfast without asking our preference. We prefer Chinese breakfast. Both are available, tell them your preference. (The Western breakfast was sad in my opinion - a scrabmled egg, wonder bread toast, and odd bacon and sausage ... they tried, but the ingredients aren't availalbe for a good English fry up. Much better to eat fresh + expertly prepared chinese breakfast - yum!)||- breakfast is served in the checkin area/ office. It's kind of odd. Fine for us as we were the only guests! But might be weird if there were many guests?||- The manager speaks great english but no one else on staff seems to. Come prepared with google translate!||- If you are looking for a cozy/comfy hangout/bar, we recommend Cozy Bar on South Street - it's the only place with reasonable prices and comfy seating that we found to have a drink in the evening!||Overall we really enjoyed this hotel and would stay there again.
