Thanks, seeing that we were a family (2 adults 2 children) they upgraded our room for free. The rooms are very modern, everything is clean.

The location is just within the old city and as a plus a taxi or car can drive you there direct with your luggage. ||We received an upgrade to an Executive suite with separate bedroom, lounge room, ensuite & powder room. The room was very clean and well maintained. We stayed in the middle of winter and the room and whole hotel was very warm. This does not always happen at some hotels in winter so we were pleasantly surprised.||The room came with breakfast included. Where they serve breakfast was a bit smokey and options limited but the congee was nice ( only a few English choices). Not complaining as it was complimentary and there are multiple breakfast choices to choose from in Pingyao. Jings Residence is a walk away and they do a lovely breakfast in a beautiful setting. ||The staff were friendly and helpful. I speak some Chinese and it was enough for basic communication but you might find it difficult if you can't. I ran into a problem when I had to explain I needed something couriered to Beijing but they made a phone call and rustled up a manager who spoke English. They tried really hard to help me out. ||Overall it was a nice stay in a good location, the room was great and the reception staff were efficient & friendly.

Had a short but very pleasant stay here. Service was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nicely done, with a number of choices, including cooked-to-order noodles (and eggs). Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. Public spaces are very elegant. Location was an easy walk from the south gate entrance of the city wall, and not too far from the Tian Yuan Kui Guesthouse, where we had a nice local dinner for a good price. Our guide in Xi'an, Allen, had kindly contacted the hotel to check (in Chinese) on transport to the Taiyuan airport; they can arrange a car (450 cny when we were there) for the 90 min. ride and add it to your hotel bill. If you're a truly intrepid traveler and arrive by overnight train from Xi'an at 0600, note that after hiking down the platform, hauling your bags down 3 flights of stairs and back up 3 flights, as you exit, you'll be besieged by a number of guys offering to take you to your hotel. You might want to look for a legitimate taxi in front of the train station (or wait for one), though he'll likely say the meter is no good for the old city and want to negotiate a fare (we did). As you drive up the dark, narrow & deserted streets of the old town at 0630, you'll be happy you're in a legitimate taxi -- and happy that you're at the Kylin Grand. The front desk staff graciously let us check in early, and the bed felt awfully good after a night on the soft sleeper bunks on the train. And the extra breakfasts we bought that morning tasted awfully good--at a reasonable price. Also, if you're over 60, you can get into any of the 19 attractions (temples & wall) by showing your passport to the turnstile operators for free admission (no ticket needed). It took us an hour to learn this (and a lot of walking), after first trying several times to buy the 75 cny discount ticket at various places--but then a kind lady pointed out the fine print on the ticket price sign (discount for some; free for others). Duh...

It is pretty hard for me to understand how people can give good reviews it to the hotel. Honestly the appearance is very positive, the building is beautiful and characteristic from the outside and when you get there you do believe that you are getting to it wonderful place. We were given two rooms on the ground floor, which is absolutely wrong because of the ground floor is always very crowded and more humid. Hotel public toilets were next to our rooms, which made that the things even worse. The rooms were very humid and not properly clean. We were very upset that we disintegration, but given that we spent only one night here we decided to keep them. In the morning we went to have breakfast and that the situation was terrible. There was nothing for Western people, apart from white bread. All the tables were dirty and nobody was trying to help to clean the stuff. I was very happy with the city, I have beautiful memories here but the hotel will be forgotten.

Our first impression of the hotel was all good. The location was good, being a short walk from the East Gate of the City Wall and Pingyao Confucian Temple. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful but some spoke very little English. ||||However, the toilet was poorly lit. The carpet in the room was badly stained in various places. The hairdryer was broken. The room looks tired. And, we couldn't find any facial tissue in the room/toilet but a toilet roll (placed in a beautiful Chinese lacquer box) by the sink. And the breakfast spread was very very limited - save for the (freshly cooked) noodles and plain congee, the other Chinese items looked unappetizing and cold. ||||Overall, it is still a decent place to stay for a night or two.

酒店是平遥古城内星级最高（5星）得酒店，而且总统套房是独立有一个院子的。周边是文庙、大戏院、城隍庙等景点，而且傍边就是唯一可以开车进城的上东门（太和门），如果自驾的话停车会很方便。所以位置是很好的。很多客栈是在城中心，当然比较热闹，但我喜欢这种安静的风格。||房间是中式风格，很不错，面积也挺大的。装修不错，当然用品不是最高级。||床很舒服，还有若干种枕头可以选择。||洗浴用品也有中国特色，是几个瓷瓶，不过质量不咋地，按键普遍不好使。||餐厅味道可以，价格和其他家差不多。推荐一个当地菜-烧酥肉。不过早餐很差。首先7点钟开饭，但厨师6点半才上班，所以到了7点的时候一半以上的菜还没有准备好。然后品种很一般，数量也不多。||不过总体上服务态度很好，然后有什么问题也回答得很清楚。||最后，酒店门口提供的城内电瓶车其实不是酒店的，是外面的，但老板娘还比较热情实在。一般一个人30元。但实际上平遥不大，如果体力可以，自己走走是完全没有问题的。

Really nice hotel, typical Chinese decoration and big moderne rooms with nice bathroom.||I stayed only one night there but it was sufficient, in the hotel itself is nothing to do. No fitness room, no swimming pool and no wifi. The breakfast was also only Chinese, absolutely not adapted for Western people. In the breakfast room you could hear the cook and/or waiter screaming and laughing. If you stop there it is worth for the architecture and decoration.

真的很不错的酒店，典型的中式装饰，宽敞的现代房间，还有漂亮的浴室。||我在那里只住了一晚，但已经足够了，在酒店本身没什么可做的。没有健身房，没有游泳池，也没有无线网络。早餐也只有中式，绝对不适合西方人。在早餐室，您可以听到厨师和/或服务员的尖叫和大笑。如果你停在那里，它的建筑和装饰是值得的。

Our room is quite comfortable. There are two bathrooms and a living area. The bed is firm and comfortable. The very dim lights in the black-tiled bathrooms make it hard to see. Of our five day stay at the Grand Kylin, coffee was available on one day. There was no bar/lounge. In fact, the dining area was the only auxiliary space with service in this rather large building. There was one staff person who spoke English and she was very helpful. Our room looked down over the large, cement floored dining area. In the mornings we awoke to "Hotel California" and other odd hits playing for the diners. The irony is this hotel was so empty the song quite fit. Often it was my husband and I and four or five staff people watching us eat. Very awkward. The breakfast was not considerate of international travelers. Some days there was a cold fried egg on a plate and a large host of Asian breakfast items. Only one day was there even coffee. Coffee seems like a simple enough item to serve that is a staple of many countries. All-in-all, I would try a different location in the ancient part of Pingyao. There are many from which to choose which actually have services in addition to a strange breakfast.
