Baiyue International Hotel

Interesting Establishment, decorated in the opulent Chinese style they love so much, its like walking into someone's fantasy or nightmare. So much wasted space in Chinese design and architecture, rooms are spacious with some suites offering seperate lounge, Im not convinced about the Feng Shui that's for sure. I spoke to some locals and apparently the Hotel was converted from a private spa retreat club/nightclub establishment into a hotel which would explain the awkard layout and appointment of some of the rooms. Definitely a place for Chinese nationals, huge events here on the weekends, weddings seminars, conferences etc. be prepared to wait. Hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating and appreciative of your business. The drains back up and flood the shower, the smell of effluent can be overpowering not sure if the chinese use S Bend sin their plumbing configurations but plumbing seems to be an issue on the higher levels. Great gym facilities, pool and there are rooms with boxing rings! Go figure pretty cool but no one wanted to take on the Aussie kid. Food is Chinese cuisine so enjoy cornflakes for breakfast if you are to western tastes.

The cleanliness and hygiene standards were impeccable, and I felt comfortable and safe throughout my stay. The room was spacious, well-appointed, and tastefully decorated, providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Let’s start with Qidong, well what can I say? 99% of people who have to visit Qidong will be either Oil and Gas or Shipbuilders due to its proximity to the local shipyards. If you are in the 1% bracket and considering visiting Qidong as a tourist to sightsee cultural China forget it. There is none. ||If you are travelling South on your way to Shanghai continue the extra 1 ½ hours and go straight to Shanghai, believe me it is well worth the extra travel time. Besides the trip over the bridge that crosses the Yangtze (apparently the Chinese have another name for this river) has more history and sightseeing opportunities than you will ever get here. If you are travelling North, go to Nantong instead. Wolf Mountain is a one day excursion and has more culture as you walk through the entrance than this place will ever have.||Even though the town/city is 100 years old there is no cultural China here. That is unless you want to visit the local bar square that caters for the westerners. Main attraction most of the bars cater for men who wish to meet a Chinese girl for the night. “Yes you do have to pay regardless of your best chat up line”. Other than that if you are a white female of any shape and size and wish to find out what it is like to be a celebrity for a day that is photographed and stared at constantly this is the place for you.||Now let’s get to the Bai Yue. I resided at this hotel for 3 months. Yes I worked at the local shipyard. Yes the reason for the length of time was a lot of promises by the management. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel? I have stayed in 2 star hotels in Shanghai that cater and care for their clientele more than this place.||Where shall we start? If you are unlucky enough to have to stay here. Upon check in insist that you have outside facing room. Chances are it will cost you more because it will be a suite but believe me it will be worth the extra cost.||Although all the rooms are of a good to reasonable standard. If you book a normal room the chances are that you will end up in the middle of the hotel. Main reason being the hotel has more suites than normal rooms and the poor people have to settle for the centre piece. Yes you will spend your nights in darkness because you have to keep your curtains closed or hope that your close friend is in the room opposite. If this is the case don’t worry about going to the bar just open your windows and have a chat at your pleasure. Then if it rains you can stay awake all night listening to it cascade down the central area. Yes the roof pitches into the centre and drips straight onto concrete. Only in China can someone design this.||The food, considering the majority of people living here are western, isn’t bad but it is also not great. Doesn’t really cater for the westerner but hey when in China eat Chinese. So I will not complain. But I must state the Perfect Hotel across the road has gone to great lengths to change its menu and chefs once guests started to leave for the Bai Yue.||As for the laundry service. If you like your clothes looking tired and old, they can achieve this in one single wash. So be prepared to hand wash your own decent clothes.||You are probably thinking by this point I have a grievance with this hotel, you are wrong there are a couple of plus points, I am a glass half full sort of man and needed to have my plus points to have stayed here for 3 months. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. I have not found more good-natured staff in all the hotels I have frequented in Qidong. Minus point, sorry there has to be one, not many of them speak English. But they will always greet you with a smile and do their best to accommodate you.||Main reason that I moved here and stayed here so long was the gym. The hotel was originally a large local gym with an indoor pool, bit of a rarity in these parts are indoor pools. The hotel was built around the existing gym and pool. Main issue here is that unless you are prepared to fight for swimming space with the locals you are wasting your time entering the pool. Every age limit is catered for in this communal bath. There is an outdoor pool at the Perfect hotel that is now exclusively for hotel residents. Who said the Chinese don’t learn. ||Yes the gym was very good and equipped to a good standard, once upon a time, like the first couple of weeks the hotel opened. What can I say? Think of your local gym in the ghettos of America or down on the local council estate in the UK. Multiply what your visions are by ten and you will still not come close to what you will encounter here. The local Chinese male considers it manly not to wear a shirt and it his god given right to be able to wretch and spit wherever he pleases. So you can regularly, nightly to be precise, encounter a larger than life shirtless Chinese male wobbling and profusely sweating all over the cardio machines. Not a pretty sight unless you are of a weird nature or the ultimate is watching one do sit ups on the bench as he wretches on the way up and then sprays spittle everywhere as he reaches the top of his exercise. This is besides the fact he has just come off a running machine and is now leaving his bodily fluids all over the benches and every other piece of weight equipment because his body is a temple. A bloody big wobbly temple at that. Mr Blobby looks positively slim compared to these people.|| I have already mentioned the hotel staff. There seems to be more gym staff than anywhere else in the hotel. Don’t know what they do, as most of them sit in the communal area smoking or in their expansive offices playing on their games. As far as being a hotel guests you do not exist to them but they do go out of their way to bring as many locals in as possible. Suppose they have to justify their job. As for smoking, there are more cigarettes smoked in the gym than anywhere else in the hotel. Yes I am a smoker but there is a time and a place. These you will see are put out in the most peculiar places. The best one and this was observed on several nights was the overspill at the side of the pool. ||What with this and the numerous local children, yes the population for Qidong is 1.2 million, and the amount of spittle that went into the pool, needless to say no westerners went in the pool. ||There was one western female staying at the hotel who use to use it but she soon stopped based on the amount of times she was videoed every time she went for a swim, now you are probably thinking young female nothing wrong but she was in her 50’s quite nice looking but not your usual video star figure. Anyway she wasn’t impressed.||The hotel also advertises a massage parlour, Jacuzzi and sauna. They did have this when it first opened but this closed after 4 weeks. Don’t worry about this though as it would only have been overrun by the local Chinese community so this would have been another place guests were not welcome. And it would probably be ruined by now anyway.||The idiot that built this hotel I can only surmise inherited his money because he cannot be a business man. I understand he took his management team to a hotel in Shanghai for a couple of days, just to see how a proper hotel should be run. I am afraid he should have taken more notice himself than rather trying to influence his staff. I say this because I know the various hotel managers, except the gym manager who I suspect is getting a bung from the local community, have constantly advised him about the hotel residents’ complaints but he has taken no notice. He should have saved his money and just reopened it as the old gym, with his numerous gym staff, and saved himself a lot of money. If he wanted a community centre for the local populace of Qidong why did he bother trying to own a hotel? Actually I think that if he is really lucky and reduces his staff (well shortly he won’t need the hotel staff) and if he ever actually charges the local community the same price as he originally charged the outside westerners, before they all stopped attending the gym, he may just run his local community centre at a slight loss. That’s before he has to keep replacing all the weights and machines because no local has a clue how to show respect or care for anything. The only thing I can say about this hotel is that it is a good advertisement for the Perfect Hotel across the road and that it made the Perfect up its game and improve its service. Final conclusion the owner has not got a clue there are far better Bed and Breakfasts in Israel or on the Gaza strip than submitting yourself to this hostelry.

치동에서 그나마 깔끔하고 가성비 좋은곳. 수영장, 사우나, 헬스 다 무료 사용. 단점이라면 조식이 좀 부족하고, 안마를 하지 않는다는점... 찬 음료가 준비되어 있지 않다는점...

池东最干净性价比最高的地方之一。 免费使用游泳池、桑拿浴室和健身房。 缺点就是早餐有点缺乏，而且没有按摩。 没有冷饮可以喝...
