Grand New Century Hotel

On 8 March 2025, we departed from Enshi Grand Canyon (恩施 大峡谷) in Hubei and arrived at Lichuan (利川市). Lichuan is located in Enshi near the border of Chongqing Municipality. We stayed one night at this hotel (利川时代开元名都大酒店) before departing for Chongqing city the following day. ||Most of us were physically exhausted after a day of hiking at the Grand Canyon and were looking forward to a comfortable good sleep at this impressive 5-star hotel. I felt proud of my wife, who accomplished the challenging hike at the Grand Canyon despite having diarrhoea and vomiting for the past few days. Coincidentally, that particular day was the Women's International Day (三八妇女节) which marks the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. ||In China, this particular day was well celebrated. My wife was presented with a stalk of flowers at the embarkation station at the Grand Canyon early in the morning before we started our hike and right here in the dining hall, every woman in our tour group was also presented with a stalk of flowers by the tour leader. When we checked into our room, the hotel staff also went around knocking at every room and presented a stalk of flowers to every female visitor. Chairman Mao articulated: “妇女能顶半边天（women hold up half the sky). Frankly speaking, I was just a bit jealous when all the women left to take a group photo, leaving the few miserable men at the table.||The dinner was sumptuous, and I particularly like the white fungus with red dates, chicken broth, and fried sea clams. I was tired and rested early while some of our group members went for foot massage at the vicinity of the hotel. ||The breakfast at the hotel on the following day was also well-spread out with diversified options. The sweet potatoes, fresh soyabean milk, red beans, yoghurt, watermelon, and all sort of flower tea were to my liking. ||Overall, the hotel is of excellent quality and reminded me of Women's International Day when all the men in the group must have felt sidelined and jealous.

2025年3月8日，我们从湖北恩施大峡谷出发，抵达利川市。利川位于恩施，靠近重庆市边境。第二天出发前往重庆前，我们在利川时代开元名都大酒店住了一晚。||在大峡谷徒步了一天后，我们大多数人都筋疲力尽，期待着在这家令人印象深刻的五星级酒店舒适地睡个好觉。我为我的妻子感到骄傲，她在过去几天腹泻呕吐的情况下，仍然完成了大峡谷的艰难徒步。巧合的是，那天是国际妇女节，旨在纪念妇女在社会、经济、文化和政治方面取得的成就。||在中国，这个特殊的日子被隆重地庆祝。一大早，在大峡谷的登船站，我的妻子就收到了一束鲜花，就在我们出发前。就在餐厅里，我们旅行团的每位女士也都收到了领队送的一束鲜花。我们入住房间时，酒店工作人员也挨家挨户敲门，给每位女士都送了一束鲜花。毛主席说过：“妇女能顶半边天”。说实话，看到女人们都去拍合影了，只剩下几个可怜的男人在桌子上，我心里是有点嫉妒的。||晚餐很丰盛，我特别喜欢红枣银耳、鸡汤和炒海蚬。我累了，早早就休息了，我们团里的一些成员则去酒店附近做足底按摩。||第二天酒店的早餐也很丰富，选择多样。红薯、鲜豆浆、红豆、酸奶、西瓜、各种花茶都很合我的口味。||总的来说，酒店的品质很棒，让我想起了三八妇女节，那时候团里的所有男人一定都感到被边缘化和嫉妒。
