A local hotel with acceptable room and services. The room we had was a quite comfortable but a bit dated. The shower cubicle door is not sealed properly and the toilet floor was totally wet after our shower. The sink was also cracked.

The address for the hotel I stayed is at Heilongjiang, 五大连池市， 迎宾路 35号, look the same as English but the interior is vast different ||To appreciate this hotel, you must first look around the area you are in. To the locals this is their 5 Star Hotel. As for me, I think it warrants a 3.5 to 4 Star base on my traveling experience.||Hotel looks grand from outside, huge and elegant lobby to welcome you. There are 4 fast speed passenger lifts to serve you to your allocated floor without any hassle. ||The room is spacious too, it is equipped with an enclosed rain shower area, a bathtub as well as a walk in wardrobe. Internet speed was not bad, though not very fast but also not very slow. ||Bedding was cleaned and well ironed, full set of toiletries plus simple and easy to operate TV programs. Lighting was good and there are ample power points for charging.||Breakfast spread is very Chinese, for the westerners, they do provide some white breads and blueberry jam. No coffee and no tea, but soyamilk instead. ||One disadvantage is the hotel does not turn on the central air-conditioning system during June period when we visit, so is kind of hot and stuffy to have as good night rest.

Reserving this hotel on any website, local or western, is the first challenge but the effort (any effort) is hardly rewarded by the outcome. The hotel is an imposing modern-ish looking dark brick and glass edifice at the northern end of Wudalianchi city a short distance from the expressway tollgate. A grand operatic marble and chandeliered foyer make for a favourable first impression. Reception was OK where there was a modicum of English (but Mandarin or Russian preferred) and a willingness to help. After the elevator, the guest’ quarters are accessed via dour and cave-like corridors with either no lighting at all or a few dull and flickering fluorescents. That’s the best part; for all the rest read on. The only thing that prevented this hotel from being terrible was that we didn’t have high expectations this far out of the mainstream and it’s probably as good as it gets hereabouts.|| ||The good: our guest’s suite was clean, quiet* and, despite the grubby windows, had a sweeping view north over the stark and weathered volcanic stumps of Wudalianchi’s Geo Park. Most things expected were there and some of them worked as expected – read more for those that didn’t. The king bed was extremely firm but otherwise comfortable and there were enough pillows for each of us to find one that worked. The included wifi worked well on all our devices. * Quiet, in all probability, because the place was almost empty this late in the season otherwise noises in the corridor transferred into our suite like a drum head. And, presumably, vice versa.||||The bad: at six years of age, the property manages to look at least a decade older, maybe more. Our “suite”, which is apparently the largest the hotel has to offer, was the size of a reasonable hotel room. The decorative theme was vintage Kremlin faux-opulence: dark, sombre and heavy handed. The furnishings looked like pieces recycled from a Russian museum spiced up with a few oddments from the oriental parts bin. Any illusion of luxury ended at the floor which is covered in wooden boards. The fit and finish around the room varied from very ordinary to downright shoddy in places, especially the bathroom. Which room was of reasonable size but should have been much better except for the laughable misuse of the space which reduced a quarter of the room into an unusable void. The plumbing displayed the usual local vices: leaks and slow drainage, At least the water ran hot and strong. It is, after all, a “hot springs” hotel. The bath towels were worn and shabby. The bedsheets and a couple of pillowcases had some disagreeable soiling which were probably (well, hopefully) stains that didn’t wash out rather than fresh grime. The included breakfast is a forgettable buffet of Chinese-only staples take in a cavernous chandeliered wedding reception hall complete with grubby furnishings and spectacularly soiled carpet. Arriving late (after 7:15AM) takes the risk that the bus tour groups have cleaned out everything worthwhile with the remnants is slowly going cold.||||The ugly: there are no “no smoking” rooms in this hotel. If you request one, they spray the room with deodoriser and remove the ash tray during your stay. We know that because that’s what they did with ours. The in-room “safe” is of the portable variety which means you can take it out with you – as can anybody else. In any case the safe lock didn’t work. There was no heating and the outside temperature was down to 0°C but they don’t turn the heat on until mid-October so the complaints were manageable. ||||North side rooms have the volcanic panorama otherwise it’s downtown Wudalianchi.

Annoying smell of laquer or similar in some rooms. White towels were actually a strange dark shade, Rooms were spacious enough though. Breakfast buffet was a very chinese breakfast and the dining room is not elegant (strange considering how fancy the lobby is). Still, for being so far off the beaten track it was a bit surprising to find a half decent hotel.

The place is amazing, clean & comfortable ,, i recommend it , service is excellent & the view from room is great also the jaccuzi in every room makes you feel relaxed .. I went there as a part of aiesec conference & i think all of nationalities enjoyed staying there for two days .. We were 360 interns from 51 countries

Una excelente familia cubana, hospitalidad y buen trato son sus credenciales. Se encuentra ubicado en la calle Cortina, número 10, entre carretera Central y Avenida Sandino, Reparto Brisas del Capiro. Cuenta con dos habitaciones climatizadas, agua fría y caliente, salón de billar, jardín colgante, terrazas, y grandes salones para el buen confort. Y lo principal el la buena comida cubana y la hospitalidad de la humilde familia que la habita y hará de su visita una experiencia única e inolvidable.
