Having read some reviews of the hotel, I was a little bit apprehensive. After the 1.5hour drive from pudong airport, I arrived at the unremarkable looking hotel in Chongming. There isn't much to do or see around chongming island. I was here on business, and the hotel was apparently one of the better hotels in town. I didn't know the area well, so I had to rely on my Chinese guide who recommended the place.||||Check in was rather quick, I was charged a rate of 1400RMB for 3 nights stay, which one might think is rather expensive for a hotel on the outskirts of shanghai. But you pay for what you get and breakfast was included in this rate. The rooms were adequate but more importantly, they were clean. I did a thorough inspection of the place and it was generally spotless. Having been forewarned about the cigarette smell in the room, I was pleasantly surprised that this little defect was absent from my room(there are no non-smoking rooms in the hotel).||||The toilet and the towels provided were clean. You might think that im a stickler for hygiene, but this being the outskirts(and the reviews certainly didn't reassure me in any way), you cant be too careful. They provided free water and a basket of fruit so all in a all I was generally happy with the place.||||One of the downsides was that the restaurant in the hotel and in the town in general, close at 8. So if you don't enter the restaurants by 7, you can forget about having a proper meal. There is a starbucks(yes starbucks!) closeby, but that hardly constitutes a decent meal.||||breakfast was decent, with a limited selection. ||||All in all, I was pretty satisfied with my stay here. Judging by the other reviews, I think I may have got lucky with my room and honestly if I had no business being in Chong ming island, I probably wouldn't come back again. But if you had to come here, then perhaps you could consider Tianhe hotel.

The hotel has the best location. It is next to the ferry terminal and close to the bus station. It also offers unblocked water view.

酒店共二十三层，进入后感觉相当宽敞也很豪华，有一个休息厅，内部设施挺好的，环境也好，性价比可以达到四星级了。地理位置交通方便，长江大桥还没建成时，从码头下来几分钟就可以到酒店了。酒店楼层是分档次的，各个楼层的价格都不一样，十层上面室内采光度很好的。服务态度好，办手续速度也非常好。

I was a little afraid because photos were not very good. Finally this is an chinese hôtel not very new (carpet is old and in general all is becoming old) but quite clean and with a good size room. We have view on the river and breakfast include allow us to start well our journey (biking tour to the island) staff helped us to keep safe our bicycle and price was really good 358 for 2 people with breakfast included.

坐落在崇明岛的一家酒店，离海边很近，房间布置比较温馨，白色床单搭有暗红色绣着图案的横带。酒店服务比较周到，有免费的早餐，品种还算齐全，中西式都有。早晨步行可以到海边看看风景，有船只停泊，蛮不错。

The Tian He hotel does not cater for Westerners,we did not eat at this hotel, The rooms are very basic and cleanish.I would not recommend you stay here, we were told this is the best hotel on the island, a short walking distance from the ferry.We were not informed that building work was being carried out at the hotel and facilities were unavailible. Chongming Island has a nature reserve, which was closed, There is one main shopping street and a couple of side streets branching out from it. This Island is not for Tourists to stay. Perhaps a visit for a few hours to see Confucius Temple or Danyuan gardens. The Texas steak house is opposite the hotel. What a great menu, if you order the medium or large steak you can have six other items on the menu for free, a seven course meal for around fifty yuan about $10, really good valve. The ferry from Shanghai takes half to three quarters of an hour, pay the extra to sit up stairs. |Quite a few times while out shopping, a car will pull along side and you will be asked if you want sex, it doesn't matter if you are male or female.|

天河酒店不适合西方人，我们没有在这家酒店吃饭，房间很基本而且干净。我不推荐你住在这里，我们被告知这是岛上最好的酒店，步行很短的距离我们没有被告知酒店正在进行建筑工程并且设施无法使用。崇明岛有一个自然保护区，已关闭，有一条主要的购物街和几条从那里分支出来的小街。这个岛不适合游客停留。也许可以花几个小时参观夫子庙或丹园。德克萨斯牛排馆位于酒店对面。多么棒的菜单啊，如果你点了中号或大号牛排，你就可以免费享用菜单上的其他六道菜，七道菜的餐点大约五十元人民币约十美元，真的很不错。从上海出发的轮渡需要半到三刻钟，需要额外付费才能坐楼梯。 |有好几次出去逛街的时候，一辆车会停在旁边，问你要不要做爱，不管你是男是女。|

I have stayed in many hotels all over China. This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had anywhere. Starting from the lobby to the elevators and the room itself everything is dirty. The lobby is crowded with people and most of them smokers.I asked for a non-smoking room and when I entered my room it smelled worse than the smoking rooms at the airports. The maid showed up a few minutes later and removed the ashtrays. So that made it a non-smoking room. I couldn't take off my shoes because carpeting was dirty. There was black dirt all around the bath tub. After I called and complained about my room, they moved me to another room that had an additional game room with a table in the center and smelled just as bad as the first room.Some type of Chinese game. I later learned that many locals rent these rooms just for gambling. I asked the manager if she could have the bed covers changed since the bed smelled like cigarettes, she insisted that they were just changed and refused to get them changed . I had to use a t-shirt to cover my pillow and used my jacket as a blanket to get some sleep. I had planned on staying for a week but I checked out the next morning. Actually there aren't any good western hotels on the island. You can get much better hotels at a lower price in Shanghai. Unless you're on the island for business, there's absolutely no reason to be here. Other than the local food, you won't be able to find anything good to eat. People here are wonderful and hard working but not a place you want to spend too much time in.
