I stayed at the Shengli International Hotel for 1 night this week, with some colleagues while visiting a client in the area.||||Arriving at night, the hotel was spectacularly lit and the lobby was beautifully presented. Check in was quick, although no English is spoken here so I needed an interpreter for any interactions with staff. I had a room on the 17th floor and it was clean and well equipped. It included a mini-bar with some unusual stock (including mens and ladies underpants!!), and had a well presented bathroom. The TV had at least one English channel. Check out time is 2PM. A smart idea in the room is a sensor-light in the bathroom, so that during the night one doesn't need to fumble around for a light switch. The water pressure in the shower was terrible.||||The bed was very hard (as in most local Chinese hotels), and also like most Chinese hotels, the room did not have an iron. ||||The whole hotel smelt of smoke, and people smoked freely throughout the corridors, lobby and restaurants. A Tea-bar is located on the lobby level, serving a wide range of fresh teas.||||The hotel only takes Cash or UnionPay card (not international credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Amex). A Chinese buffet breakfast was included in my rate, which included local dishes such as milk tea soup. There were very few western items available at breakfast.||||We had a delicious lunch in a VIP room on the 4th floor.||||Check out was slow and chaotic, as in many local Chinese hotels. Inexplicably it took about 30 minutes for 4 rooms to check out even though no-one else was checking out and there were 2 staff on duty. This isn't unique to this hotel. ||||The hotel claims to be a 3 star hotel, however the facilities and presentation were much better than this, and I would both have expected it to have a 4 star rating, and would happily give it 4 stars here on Tripadvisor. I would look forward to staying here again when visiting Xuejiawan again.
