This was the second time in this hotel. This time my room was on the 15th floor, and it was much more modern than my first stay. I had nice views of the river.Service was good, breakfast was just ok. There is a bar with live music on the first floor.

Although I rate the hotel as an average, I mean this in the context of 3-4 star places. When I stayed over in September 2015, my higher floor room had a great view of the nearby river but, more importantly, was clean and neat. The buffet breakfast choices were mainly Chinese or Korean-Chinese with a few Western options such as bread and cereal. Overall, a good place for 1 or 2 nights. Note: I returned to Yanji several days later and stayed at an even nicer place for about the same price--so shop around.

The decor is a bit dated (see the photo of the damaged furniture), but the room itself was comfortable. There was a welcome note waiting for me, and after about 30 minutes a plate of snacks was brought as a welcome gift. The location is near the river, and there are cafes, restaurants, and convenient stores within a short walk.

We stayed here in May of 2013, and found the hotel what you would expect in a Chinese city of this size. Not the cleanest or most up to date, but the staff worked hard to keep us happy, and there was a street fair/carnival about a block away that had great street food and lots of happy people. We did enjoy our stay, found the locals quite fun, took a day trip to Chang Bai Mountain and may just go again on a future vacation.

A throwback to the Wild Wild East days of 1990s China: guests are greeted by an imposing front entrance but the lights are of and all doors at the top of a ramp are locked, forcing one to lug all luggage up twenty stairs to make it inside. Prices on display in the lobby are laughably out of sync with actual offers made online, in my case a difference of more than three-hundred percent. The old bathrooms feature showerheads mounted at roughly 1,80m height, meaning if a guest is taller head bumps are all but guaranteed. Elevators do not require the use of keycards, a fact well-known to prostitutes, two of which cheerfully knocked on my and every other door on the floor. Thankfully, a similarly-priced but much more refined hotel is right next door to this building.

We arrived at Yanji Airport around 3:30 pm and the cab ride to the hotel cost $50 RMB, which is approximately 7.25 USD. Yes, the room is bit of outdated as mentioned by other reviewers. However, we really didn't spend too much time in the room. We had a deluxe single room and it is well equipped with all the amenities. The concierge at the lobby Mr. Guao is really helpful with our inquiry; he even set up a last minute sightseeing outing for us; great local driver that took us to the Changbaishan. We could speak both Mandarin and Korean, thus we had no problem finding local dining and other relaxing activities (great foot massage in the proximity of the hotel) The hotel staff is little undertrained, but we expected that in this border city(w. North Korea) we chose this hotel based on its proximity to the airport and Yanji West train station and we enjoyed our stay and just a tip for travelers that doesn't speak Mandarin or Korean, it would be easier to stay in Changchun than this little city; it's relatively safe and air quality is better than city such as Shenyang or Beijing. BTW the cab fare from the hotel to Yanji West station cost about $23 RMB-3.45 USD. Two high speed train scheduled (one in the morning and one in the afternoon)daily that would take you to Jilin, Changchun, Shenyang and Dalian. Spend the money and buy the First Class seat and it's well worth the money and beats the hassle at the airport.
