Howard Johnson Nanshan Plaza

I spend a lot of time staying in hotels throughout Asia. I could not fault this Howard Johnson hotel. I have stayed there about half a dozen times now, whenever I visit Bengbu. The rooms are large, well appointed and immaculately serviced. One of the best buffet breakfast (both Asian and Western) I have experienced. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff to help you.

I stayed for a week and booked a suite at the Howard Johnson in Bengbu. This hotel is really nice and has everything you need. I stayed in a suite on the 21st floor and loved the views. The suite had a nice living room along with 2 bathrooms. ||||Location: Located in the center of the city, nothing is too far away. There is a new mall just across the street which has 2 supermarkets/department stores, various other stores and a few restaurants. In the other direction, about 15mins walk is a park with lots of activity on the weekends. Across the street is lots of street food which was nice!||||Room: The room was always cleaned well and service was prompt. When we requested extra towels or coffee it was always done. When we first arrived I noticed the carpets had a little stain, but that's the only negative. The room comes with slippers, a robe and was always very comfortable.||||Service: The service was always friendly. Most staff try to help in English, but there are only a few that can actually provide assistance in English. ||||Amenitites: I chose not to get the breakfast included so the room was cheaper. Plenty of people would show up for breakfast, and I wished I tried it once. The fitness center is larger than most hotels and has everything you need from dumbbells to machines and treadmills. There is an indoor pool as well but I did not use it, but it looked good.||||Reputation: The hotel has a beautiful lobby, has 26 floors and stands out as a top hotel in the city. When we had guests over, or people stop by they always commented how nice it was. Taxi drivers all know the hotel as well.||||When booking ahead, we weren't sure if this was the right place or not. Now after the trip, we are so happy we stayed here!

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel for our business trip in Bengbu. Front desk girl was nice, polite and warmest during checking in time. Hotel room has good 5 star setup. Sound insulation was good so I could have very quiet night for sleeping. The hotel location is good as it located adjacent to the exhibition hall and plenty of shops around. ||||Unfortunately, the service was bad during checked out from a young guy standing at the left hand side counter. Three of us already paid the bills with own credit cards and I requested to cancel the deposits. The front desk girl was willing to cancel but the young guy at the left counter unwilling to cancel our deposits by acussing one of my girl friend have not paid the bill and also lost the TV remote control. I am really angry with his attitude and called my girl friend over to the counter and show them her receipt as proof of payment. Then the girl only return all the credit card receipt to us. It was really rediculous service attitude being as 5 star hotel.

Clean well appointed room. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Quiet AC. Strong hot shower with bench to sit down.|Friendly staff. Not too many english TV stations, except for cctv, unless I missed it. Breakfast opens at 6:30 am. Near railway station, since I had 8 am train to Hefei. Windows in room not completely soundproof. Check in and check out very efficient. Good Hojo hotel, good location.

房间干净整洁，设备齐全。非常舒适的床和枕头。安静的空调。热水淋浴很强劲，有长凳可供坐下。|友好的工作人员。英文电视台不多，除了cctv，除非我错过了。早餐于早上 6:30 开始。离火车站很近，因为我早上8点就有火车去合肥。房间的窗户不完全隔音。入住和退房效率很高。 很好的北条酒店，位置很好。

Bengbu is a comparatively small city in China and this was.my second visit to this city. There was for two nights. First night it was very late check in at 3.00am. Overall building lobby decoration is good. Rooms also satisfactory with all required facilities. Did not eat food but tastes breakfast both the days. They call it English breakfast but mostly chinise items spread. Being vegetarian I have to eat bread butter fruits n jucies. I have stayed at HJ Shanghai also which is much better. I was informed that spa has been closed due to Chinese new year. They could not make arrangements from outside as well.

蚌埠是中国一个相对较小的城市，这是我第二次访问这个城市。住了两个晚上。第一晚入住时间很晚，凌晨 3 点。整体建筑大堂装修不错。房间也很满意，配备了所有必需的设施。没有吃东西，但两天都吃早餐。他们称之为英式早餐，但大部分都是中式早餐。作为素食主义者，我必须吃面包、黄油、水果和果汁。我也住过上海HJ，那里好多了。我得知水疗中心因农历新年而关闭。他们也无法从外部做出安排。

It's a gorgeous hotel BUT the staff are not trained in basic basic basic service. It's not about them speaking English as drinks and food menus are written in Chinese and English. But they have no idea of a gin & tonic or a scotch & dry and its listed on their menu!!!!|Basic training in what westerners eat, drink and want would greatly assist. |Over 40 minute wait for a G&T and when it finally arrived it was fun on ice. They were out of stock of lemons and tonic!!!!!|Room service takes forever and the Club Floor and Pool were both shut on my stay. |The rooms are delightful BUT expect for a lot of things to be "out of stock" when ordering. |It could be wonderful.

I always have a budget traveler picture in my mind for Howard Johnson's. Put that away, this place is Deluxe. Very nice rooms and ever possible luxury in the lobby restaurant. As bad as the air quality was outside when i was in Bengbu, the air was good inside - they must have air cleaners for the entire property.

Very nice rooms, hot shower, clean and well appointed but there was clear evidence of shortages or a misinterpretation of what a western guest might like (of course there was, well over 90% of the guests were doubtless Chinese if the breakfast room was any indication). For example, there was a kettle and coffee cups in the room, but no coffee. A very nice desk lamp but no place to plug it in if you had your computer plugged in too. Unexpectedly, an iron and ironing board (not seen often in China). ||The Chinese food in the restaurant was good, but of course regional. The western food was a bit sketchy, but as I was the only westerner in the room, I understand why. The attendant had no English at all, and coffee was indescribable. ||The exercise room/spa was closed, and I could have used it.
