It is the carpet that really leaves an impression: dirty, stained, full of cigarette burns, probably never shampooed. Walking to the bed from the shower, one feels one needs to go back and wash one's feet again. Slippers recommended. The good thing is that bed is clean, with comfortable bedding, but like most hotels in China, rock hard. There is no bottled water so you need to boil your own supply, but the kettle didn't work. I managed to get it changed to one that did so that is ok. I moved from my original room to one that was supposed to have an internet connection, but it didn't. Oh well, probably good for me to be without for once. Bathroom was actually reasonably clean. You know, come to think of it, the room would be much better if it weren't for the frightening carpet. And why would any hotel in a tropical place want carpet anyway? They could upgrade themselves significantly by stripping it down to some nice new tiles or wood laminate. But, probably not much motivation for that...No amenities present in the hotel, no breakfast of course. Cable TV was there, with my reliably available friend in China, CCTV News (English), included. All you want to do at this hotel is arrive late, sleep, leave early and not look back...
