The Midong Hotel is a large international hotel on the outskirts (45min from downtown) of Urumuqi. This means that it is not easy to get transportation if needed.||Checkin was fast and efficient.||The rooms are large and clean.||Staff are friendly.||There is a very large, good lunch buffet at an amazing price.||So overall a good business hotel. Yet there are some flaws to be mentioned, which made me even consider three stars only.||The refrigerator in the room is empty. And in the hotel there is no shop or similar to buy refreshments. The lobby bar also is deserted, though after some ten minutes wait someone appeared to take our orders. So if you become thirsty late at night - ok, there are two complimentary water bottles in the room.||Corridors are very dark, making the initial search for the room an adventure.||Room light switches are somewhat quirky. From my bed I could not switch of all the lights.||There is no tissue papaer in the room (though toilet paper is available).||In summary, well done hardware, nice people, but some annoying flaws.
