张家界六甲酒店

This hotel has a great location and the building has lots of potential. However, the rooms are disgusting. The floors can not have seen soap and water for years, there is loads of dust everywhere, windows, glass doors and mirrors are stained and nasty. We asked the staff for a new room, which they offered, and we detailed all of the above for the cleaning of the new room. When the told us it was ready, it was still as dirty as ever, none of the things we tried to explain (via Google Translate, none of the staff know English) were amended. Also, the breakfast is very basic, they do not know how to make coffee, and the tea on offer is luke-warm tea from Lipton bags. The nice pool in the pictures is (of course) empty. For the price they are charging, just stay away. Can't help but feeling a bit sorry for them though.

I stayed for three nights at this hotel.||||This hotel was really hard to find. I came by bus from ZhangJiaJie and walked down towards the main street (WuLing Road) of WuLingYuan. Just past WuLing Road, cross the bridge and before the Theatre there is a gravel road on the right. Walk to the very end (yes, keep walking, even if it looks like it's just construction) and you will find LiuJia or Sixx Hotel. ||||I booked through CTrip and the hotel couldn't find my booking when I arrived. Regardless, they let me stay the first night and the manager spoke with me the next day to clarify whether I had booked or not. Turns out I had, but can only assume there is some teething problems with the booking system of such a new hotel. ||||The hotel was brand new when I stayed in August 2017. The room was spotless, so modern and well appointed. My room had a little tea room off the bedroom which was nice, however, the door was glass and without curtains so the room was a little bright if you need a sleep after a long day of hiking.||||The Hotel is really close to the National Park. Don't walk back towards the town and over the bridge to get to the main gate. If you keep walking towards the mountains along the boardwalk next to the river you can cross further up which saves you time. One of the staff members told me about this which was super helpful and made for a shorter and more enjoyable walk.||||A few of the staff spoke English which was helpful but the ones that didn't used translate apps which was fine. Staff members were exceptionally helpful with the porter driving me to the bus stop (with my luggage) on the back of his motorcycle!||||There are a few Western TV channels available. However, I found that they dropped out fairly regularly or just the sound would be working. Chinese TV was fine. There is also some preloaded movies/TV shows - the TV is one of those smart TVs. ||||Order the Chinese breakfast instead of the Western breakfast. When I stayed, the Western breakfast was a tomato, sausage and lettuce sandwich with tomato sauce. It was really not very enjoyable. Conversely, the Chinese breakfast was a big, garlicky bowl of beef soup noodles which was fantastic. They have a coffee machine where you can order coffees also.||||The staff gave me a fruit basket of dragonfruit, bananas and more on the second night there. This was much appreciated.||||There is a small outdoor pool on Level 1 which overlooks the river separating the hotel from the national park. I forgot my swimwear but enjoyed kicking my legs in it after a long day of walking. ||||Overall, my stay was great. I can only assume the teething problems with the new hotel will resolve after time and experience and I would definitely stay again. The hotel was luxurious and clean and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
