Zhangjiajie MINI Inn

Budget accommodations in the city, walking distance to Tianmen mountain entrance and within a few minutes from the airport. ||||we stayed there one night when we flew in late at night and did Tianmen the early next morning, before we headed off to Wulingyuan to visit Zhangjiajie National Park. ||||our room was very basic and small, but the beds were very comfortable. There is no way we would have made it to this place from the airport, so we were glad we booked their airport transfer.||||When we woke up early in the morning to head to Tianmen, we found several small stores setup to serve breakfast on the lane across from the hotel.||||overall a very convenient place to visit Tianmen mountain.

This hotel was very cute, had a very cool theme to it. Rooms were very nice for the price, beds were comfy and clean. Had a private bathroom and kettle. |The hostel owners kindly let me check in at 4am! So very grateful for that. |Great location, only 5 min walk from the train and bus station and about 10min from Tianmen Mountain cable car!

Great location in active city area. No elevator (my room on 3rd floor; more above). Room quite small (but adequate). Aircon & WiFi (limited access) available. Kettle available, but no tea or coffee. No breakfast in hotel, but many breakfast shops right outside the hotel.||Lovely shower area although shower is not separate from toilet, so floor wet, but bathroom area large with its own window. Toilet holder was loose (not useable); one toiletry dispenser empty or not working.||Small table, and nice chair (most cheaper Chinese hotels do not have these).||This was the cheapest hotel I stayed in on this holiday; it is perfectly adequate and definitely value for money.

We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our Zhangjiajie trip so we could visit Tianmen Mountain and it was the best location for us to be for Tianmen Mountain. The ticket office was a ten minute walk away and from there you hop on a shuttle bus (or take the cable car, but that was under maintenance when we went) to get to the mountain - perfect! There are lots of local restaurants near the inn as well, so it spoiled us for choice when it came to eating! The guy who worked there was so lovely and helpful, and spoke a bit of English which was very helpful too. Google translate and the Chinese version of this helps anyway when there is a need for it. The room was quaint and quirky and enough for us, but we did smell cigarette smoke at some point during the morning and at night (we were facing outward to the street, where a few local restaurants are located so could be customers or something) so that was one reason why it is a 4 rating. However, for such a great price, you really are getting a good place to stay, so I recommend staying!

We had an excellent stay here. The family who runs the place is very kind and helpful. They gave us valuable information about the mountains and a map which saved us many times. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. The rooms are decorated simply with a rustic American style. It is very clean and there is a kettle in the room. It is about 15 minutes from the airport (30ish yuan) and a 15 minute walk to major transportation to the sites. Directly infront are several local restaurants where we always got a delicious Chinese breakfast for 10-15 yuan each. Highly recommended place to stay and the price is great.

Mini Inn is a nice little hostel style hotel in the city center of Zhangjiajie. Just about 10 minutes from the airport and about 10 min walking distiance to cable car and train station. The most important thing: rooms are very functional and very very clean. The owner is a very nice young Chinese who unfortunately doesn't know English. So if you are not familiar with Chinese he will try his best to help you with his translation app but it would also be good to prepare yourself a little bit. During our stay there was noone there speaking English, eventhough some reviews mentioned that they would have a woman there. The room has towels, shower gel and shampoo and a hairdryer. The aircondition can heat, which can be very important sometimes in China. The owner has a friend who functions as the driver. He can pick you up at the airport, bring you back and we booked him for a day trip to the glass bridge as well. He is also very nice and hepfull. Overall this is a really good value for money but for travellers who have never been to China you need to prepared about the following: some rooms are facing the small street. People there will be outside until midnight, so it can be a bit noisy. Windows in China are not isolated at all. Rooms to the back are facing the school. In the morning, around 4.30am you will have two roosters fighting for the louder voice plus around 8am the local school with their loud music, getting kids to school. The first night we stayed there was a Monday morning... so I am not sure if this is only on Mondays but that day the school was extremely loud. Next day was a bit softer music background. So this is the perfect hotel for excursions to Tianmen Mountain, to driver to the Glass bridge or to go into the National Forest Park (if you do not want to stay there, the drive with the new road just takes approx. 1 hour one way). It is definitely not a hotel to relax and sleep in. In terms of food: there are no western restaurants in Zhangjiajie except for McDonalds and KFC. There is a western style coffee shop close to the cable car. Otherwise there are multiple Chinese restaurants just walking distance from the hotel or the owner can help you to call a local lady to bring you some Chinese dish to the hotel. Also be aware that he only takes cask when you check in to pay the room. No cards. The driver will also accept WeChat pay besides Cash.

Superb hospitality, service, and food from Lucas and his team, with bright and clean rooms that didn't need air conditioning or heating in spring. We flew in to Zhangjiajie airport and arranged airport pickup through the hotel both ways, which made travel much easier. Lucas spoke excellent English and was full of tips and advice for the area and helped us to arrange our itineraries into the park each day. The hotel is right next to the Yangjiajie entrance to the park = very convenient. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel were excellent, and the staff were able to cater to different food requests easily. Recommended!

Just a block away from the bus station in an area of hotels and eating houses ( over the road from the hospital beside the bus station yard ) the neat little hotel has good functional amenities and friendly staff. About a 15 min walk to the Tianmen cableway and that awesome ride up the mountain. We even had a view of this natural wonder from our room. Great value
