NillMarriott is usually pretty consistent with their brand standards but the JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing somehow is a 2-star hotel experience under the guise of a 5-star hotel. Firstly, the lobby and check-in experience is extremely hectic and disorderly and the lobby felt like a bus station. There is an elite member desk that's tucked to the side but no one is managing anything and folks just cut ahead without anyone caring. The check-in agent was completely indifferent and not welcoming in the least. Our luggage was left off to the side with no offer to help us take it to our room. The room itself was nice, but in dire need of an update. We encountered a few issues with other guests smoking which we could smell in our room and the response by the staff was again, complete indifference, and they said they would "remind" the guest that was blatantly smoking with their door open and staff walking the halls. The buffet breakfast experience left me scratching my head wondering how anyone could be fooled into thinking this is anywhere near what a 5-star hotel would offer. There's no semblance of service and you are basically herded into the room and left to fight with the rowdy crowd. There were some hotel staff that were genuinely helpful and friendly, but is unfortunately the exception. In Asia even a lower end hotel like a Courtyard normally gives a much higher level of service than I experienced here, and it's really unfortunate that guests are being fooled into thinking they will get a 5-star experience when they book here..

NillAn average 4 star even for Chinese standard. Rooms are clean but dated. Lighting is not great with switches everywhere and no smart way of managing lighting. Wardrobes and drawers malfunction. Location is excellent and not much noise gets inside rooms. Customer service is pretty bad if you can’t speak English. Breakfast is okay but not as good as Beijing. Service at Chinese restaurant was none existent and we had to leave after waiting more than 1 hour for a glass of wine and most of food not arriving. Jacuzzi at women’s didn’t work and you had to stand to possibly get some steam at steam room.

NillUpdate: added an extra star because they gave us access to the executive lounge which had free food and a pool table. I have never written a review before, but this was the worst service I’ve ever received at a JW Marriott and I stayed at multiple ones for my month long trip in China. We arrived at the hotel at 2pm, which was the check-in time listed on the Chase travel portal. The front desk receptionist told us that their rooms are all booked and it would take about 1 hour for them to clean our room. 2 hours passed and we asked them if our room was ready and it was still not ready…After showing some discontent with the receptionist they finally upgraded our room to the 21st floor. When we walked into the room we didn’t even realize it was upgraded since it was so small. The carpet had multiple stains and a moldy smell. When we tried to contact the front desk to exchange the room, the phone was broken and they had to call our cell…After hearing all of our complaints they best they could do was a complementary breakfast. If we visit chongqing again we will not be staying at this JW Marriott ever again. ★★★★★Great sleep quality. Sound proofing is so good that we did not hear any noise outside our room. Good location with convenience stores and restaurants all around the hotel. Buffet breakfast is great. Staff is friendly and professional. Highly recommended!

NillOlder JW property, probably due for a refurb but was well built. Quiet rooms and comfortable bedding. Staff helpful. Wide ranging breakfast buffet. Would stay again.

★A horrible check-in experience! It's my first time to visit Chongqing. As a Bonvoy Titanium Card and Lifetime Platinum Card member, I chose JW Marriott, which can be said to have the worst experience among all JW stays I have ever had. I arrived at the hotel Check-in at around 12:30 noon and was informed that the room was not ready yet, so I had to wait for half an hour. As a frequent traveler, I can understand. After about half an hour, I asked if the room was ready, but was informed that it was still not ready. Then I decided to go out and take a walk first, but when I returned at 3 pm, I didn't even have my room card ready, which was surprising. Check-in girl even told me that I needed to come in person to get my room card, which was unheard of. In addition, after the check-in, I was informed that the luggage could be directly delivered to the room, and the concierge was completely unaware. The entire check-in process was very chaotic, and I immediately requested to communicate with the Front-desk Manager. I hope he can report to the hotel general manager and ask him to call me to explain the situation. Still, so far I have not received any message or phone call from the management of JW Marriott Chongqing, which is very disappointing. As someone with travel experience in over 50 countries, this can be said to be the worst experience.||非常糟糕的入住体验。这是我第一次去重庆,作为Bonvoy 钛金卡和终身白金卡会员,我选择了JW Marriott,可以讲这是我所有入住过的JW当中体验最差的一个。我大约中午12点半左右到达酒店Check-in,被告知房间还么有准备好,要稍等半小时,作为一个常旅客,我是可以理解的。大约过了半小时左右询问房间好了没有,被告知还是没有好。随后决定出去先走一圈,结果3点回来以后拿房卡,连房卡都没有准备好,令人诧异,还告诉我说房卡是需要本人过来才可以办理的,真是闻所未闻。另外,在当时Check-in以后告知将行李可以直接送到房间里面,礼宾部也完全不知道。整个入住过程非常混乱,我随即要求和大堂经理进行沟通,我希望他可以向酒店总经理进行反应,并且让酒店总经理给我致电说明情况,但是至今我都没有收到过来自JW Marriott重庆的管理层的任何讯息或者电话,非常令人失望。我作为一个在全球50多个国家都过差旅经验的人来说,这是可以说是最糟糕的一次体验。
