NillDisappointing Experience – Not Up to KOA Standards We pulled in hoping to get a site, but none were available. As we drove around the park, it was clear the property was poorly maintained. The grounds were not well kept, and the pool was a murky green color with debris floating in it—not something you'd expect at a KOA. The entire park felt rundown, and it appeared that some people may have been living there long-term, which is not consistent with the usual KOA experience. In the end, we were glad we didn’t stay and instead found a better-maintained park just down the road.

NillWe stayed at the KOA in Jan. 2025. The location is directly off of I 20. The camp hosts were great. The store needs work, almost no camping supplies and no souvenirs. We arrived after hours planning to stay for 1 night, but because of the weather and damage to our roof when we pulled in, we were there 6 nights. The campground has numerous low, overhanging trees. The camp hosts had been at the KOA for only 5 weeks and we found out that the trees were scheduled to be trimmed or removed. Several campsites were unusable because of the trees. Signs that advised of low hanging branches would have been appreciated. The bathrooms were clean and warm.

★★★★★We loved our stay at Abilene KOA Journey with almost two weeks of restful nights, short drives into the city for shopping and touring (try finding the storybook sculptures), and just a great camping experience. The hosts are warm & welcoming, the sites are clean, spacious and nearly level, and the campground location is easily accessible. There are adorable cabins, a great playground area for kiddos, a handy camp store for forgotten necessities and unique souvenirs (check out the jewelry display!), very clean bathrooms and laundry room (open 24 hours), doggy park, game room and a lovely outdoor pool for summertime stops. We can't wait to visit again!

NillThe koa journey was well maintained and clean. We met the owners who are very pleasant. We would stay there again if our travels brought us this way.

NillLong time visitor at this location as we travel between Alabama and Tucson several times a year.. it's always been clean and easy to check in.. the last time 3 days ago on check in we found the bathroom/ shower code was missing from our check in packet map.. so the office was closed early , called the number on the packet , no answer, called the after hours emergency number, no answer , left number no call back or text with the code.. had to go beg for the code near the laundry area, only to find no one had the code and were waiting for showers or a call back from the owners ( it never came ) finally a person who had been there sometime knew and gave out the number to everyone.. OK, I understand the desk clerk may have forgotten to give everyone the code and then left for the day, but come on answer the phone or call back.. people have been traveling all day and need to shower and rest.. very disappointed

NillWe stayed at this KOA this past April. Though muddy due to the rain, it was a well kept campground. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

NillWe was on a cross country trip to Mississippi and stopped here late one afternoon. They had late a self check in. Thankful for this because we arrived after hours and left before opening. From what I can see it was a nice place for an overnight stay.
