Caravan Outpost

We booked this place because the listing said it had a queen bed and a sofa bed, which was perfect for our group. After booking, we were hit with a surprise $35 “extra bed fee.” But what extra bed? The sofa bed was already listed in the description. When we asked, they said the charge was for linens. We even offered to bring our own, but they wouldn’t allow it and were very rude and aggressive. They used the we have been in business 10 years and not once have we had an issue message, we checked Google reviews and found people had complained ABOUT THE EXACT SAME ISSUE! Overall a really dishonest experience. They basically told us we could cancel if we didn’t like it — this was last minute, right before our trip. It felt really dishonest and left us scrambling to figure out a backup plan. I will say, the location of the spot is great. Right next to downtown but i’m glad we could give our business elsewhere.

I’ve been wanting to stay here for years. I booked an airstream for December, 2020 and we had to cancel due to a Covid outbreak. When my friends and I were planning a California vacation I asked if we could add Caravan Outpost to the itinerary and they agreed it would be a fun addition to our road-trip. We loved our one night stay and found the space to be just what we were looking for. Management accommodated our requests quickly and they were very sweet. This has been a wonderful experience!

I never write bad reviews. I stayed in the Tiny House and felt like it was very overpriced for what we got. While management is telling me it was a Queen bed in the mater bedroom, my partner and I sleep in a Queen bed and it felt a lot smaller to us. There was no kitchen utensils are plates or pots and pans. Apparently they advertise this but it feels really odd to be paying that much and not have those amenities. And ironic that there is a dishwasher but no dishes. There was also a record player and a bunch of album covers but only 1/4 were actually filled with records. When I provided this feedback privately to management, I received a very aggressive email back which I didn't appreciate. I will never recommend this place to anyone I know and will never stay there again.

A fantastic experience! My first visit to both Ojai and Caravan Outpost and neither will be my last. Stayed in the tiny house and it was absolutely perfect. My only regret was that I didn't have more time to spend there. Heads up (haha) that the loft has a very low ceiling, but my 6' son managed just fine. I have some anxiety around travel, and the top-notch and proactive communication from Leilani and the team put all of that to rest. (Thank you. ❤️) I can't wait to return and am already pondering which friends I will invite along!

All amenities, tiny house and energy at Caravan Outpost was amazing. ||Our concierge Leilani, made our stay convenient, and was a delight to communicate with throughout our time there. She went above and beyond making us feel comfortable and taken care of!||Safe to say we’ve found our happy place in Ojai ♥️ when we come to visit.

Great alternative to a hotel or spa for the adventure driven. The 28 foot airstream was in great shape and very accommodating for three of us. Nice outdoor seating to mingle with others at the Outpost. Parking sufficed just outside of the entrance and everything seemed very safe and secure for the visit. Walking distance to plenty in Ojai. I'd recommend this to anybody looking to enjoy life a little outside of the norm.

We booked 2 nights here following a recommendation on Instagram. It really did not disappoint. Coming from the UK on a road trip with our kids, we loved this stopover - we stayed in 'Julien' - one of the tiny houses, which actually was roomy for four of us. Absolutely loved the styling of the whole set up and beds were really comfy. Being able to just hop on the bikes when we needed was perfect. We explored Ojai and enjoyed eating in the restaurants and coffee house. Staff were responsive and friendly. It's a unique setting, and felt like camping but more comfortable. ||My only negative comment is that there were no kitchen supplies. This was clearly communicated beforehand, but there was a fully functional kitchen but no bowls, mugs, cutlery. As we were travelling, we had to buy disposable which seemed a pity given the cost of the nightly stay. ||All in all though, we loved our stay and so glad we came. We will recommend to others!

I have mixed thoughts about the Caravan Outpost. I feel it is neither here nor there. It does not feel like camping/glamping since it is in the middle of downtown Ojai, No fire pits (even though other Ojai hotels have gas fire pits and fire places on their properties). On the other hand if you are comparing to a hotel it isn't as comfortable but is priced like a hotel. |That being said I wanted to try this place for a long time and finally did and did enjoy our stay here. The caravan is clean, bed is comfortable, heat and AC work well and there is enough room for 2 people to move around fairly well. WIFI works well. The grounds are nice and it is pleasant to sit outside. There are clean shared bathrooms and showers if you don't feel like using the small one in the caravan. |Some of the decisions by the property management are not clear- There are 2 TVs in the caravan that don't work. Why not add a Roku stick and let people log into their own streaming services. There is a full kitchen - why not provide basic utensils for small meals? |All in all we enjoyed our stay but in the future not sure if I would stay here again unless it was a lot cheaper than a hotel.
