Tru by Hilton McDonough

I travel a lot and have stayed at hundreds of properties. I normally stay at Marriott properties but after reading such good reviews, I decided to give Tru by Hilton a chance. This property has a lot of potential but missed the mark on many items. It is in a very good location except for during rush hour traffic. The front desk agents were very friendly and accommodating. The lobby decor is fun and bright but dirty and not well maintained. The rooms are very large and spacious but the decor and colors are giving hospital room. The room was not cleaned properly and the linen on the beds was stained and most of towels were dingy. After killing not 1 but 2 roaches, I requested to be moved to another room and advised that they were sold out. Housekeeping came banging on the door before 12pm check out time to rush me out. Had to use the restroom in the lobby before hitting the road and there was no toilet paper or paper towel in the dispenser😩 Needless to say I will not be returning EVER.

We stayed one night on our way from Michigan to Florida. Convenient location, right off 75. |Clean room, great shower, nice breakfast. Staff was friendly. ||However, noise from the highway is significant. We were in an even numbered room, the odd numbered rooms may be a bit protected from some of the noise

Very clean and comfortable. Very friendly staff. Unfortunately, I used a disreputable site at first to book, looked like an official Hilton site and had 'click here' for hotels phone. I clicked there and was led to 888-497-5044. This is a scam number and the representative use continual foul language during the call. Fortunately, I had stayed here before so booked on expedia.com and the hotel confirmed this was a bogus number.

Location was great right up the rd but we drove 4 hours just for the night shift teenage girl to have a nasty attitude like we didn’t know it was a $50 fee on top of that we had a newborn an just got done driving 4 hours it was the attitude she had an otp while talking to us then when we sat down at the table bc we had to wait for like 3 mins the girl was talking crap about us to her friend over the phone which was highly rude as well. We were not rude to her we weren’t disrespectful we were very tired we just didn’t know it was a 50 fee. But as well coming up to the room the room was great but I wish their was a bathtub to relax in seems like there is nothing but showers. If recommended I recommend this place has some tubs bc that was what I was hoping for to relax in a hot bubble bath tub a then go to sleep but nope it was a shower. But the shower are clean I just don’t take showers that much I’m more of a bath person.

First and foremost- STAFF is great!!!!! Helpful, kind, and professional. There are ganes and even a pool table in the lobby which i thought was awesome! However, I was sort of let down as the rooms are pretty small- and don't have the little things most rooms would have like a Bible, notepads, or one of those directory books. There is a "scan for directory" to see food and things nearby, but the page was lacking. Ice machine is ONLY on the lobby floor instead of every floor as usual. On check out day I happened to realize that unfortunately, there was mold on our bathroom walls- and perhaps may have been why I felt under the weather. I notified the front desk on our way out and they said they would report it. The breakfast is pretty meh as well....no bacon! 💔 I felt like I was paying Hilton prices for much less, unfortunately. -Dunmire

My mom booked me and my boyfriend a room and went to pick up the key. When we went to the hotel later that night the bed sheets were pulled back and there were towels misplaced. I thought my mom did it when she picked up the key to check the sheets and make sure the room was clean but when I asked her about it she said she did not, meaning they gave us a dirty room! Unacceptable! Housekeeping needs to do better. Also, they were knocking on our door at 10:30am when checkout isn’t until 11am. Why be in such a rush if you’re not even going to clean the rooms correctly.

I was supposed to stay 2 night here, but There were bedbugs in my room and I asked the hotel for a refund for the last night because I was going to check out. The lady at the front desk was so rude about it. After we got off the phone, she came to my room(for confrontation, I feel) and told me that I could not get a refund because the bedbugs more than likely came from my bag.. after she made that comment, I asked her to leave my room. She proceeded to tell me that she wasn’t leaving my room and that I had 10 minutes to leave the property and she was about to call the police. The police arrived and explained to me I did nothing wrong and sent me on my way. Needless to say, I’ll sleep in my car or outside before I ever book here again. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS HOTEL AND DO NOT BOOK!!!

Stopped for a night on a road trip. Hotel was clean and room layout is very convenient. Plenty of plugs for electronics by the beds. Breakfast area was very clean and had good choices that satisfied the two of us. We usually stay at Hamptons and I think the bed and pillow comfort level at Hamptons is better than Tru but would stay at this Tru again.
