It may have been a downtown motel that rents rooms by the hour at one time but now the rooms have been totally redone and are fantastic. The rooms are modern, clean, with tasteful simple decor. I found the bed very comfy. The rooms have all the amenities. The location is a stones throw from Main Street right downtown. Whether the price is a deal or too high may vary on your needs. The only thing that some quibble with is the volume of the heater unit. On medium it measured 60 decibels. Ear plugs are provided. I slept great without.

The Monarch leads with location but the hotel comfort closes the deal. We were visiting campus for a reunion and being able to walk to almost all the events was a major bonus. At night, we sat by the fire and enjoyed a glass of wine (provided by us.) It is a lovely place and the staff was so accommodating, pleasant and met all our needs. I will be staying there again.

Pluses: Location—VERY walkable, cleanliness, nicely appointed with complimentary bottled water and ear plugs, attentiveness of the staff (she helped us with a stubborn door code). Minuses: street side room was, of course, louder (hence the earplugs), beds were okay—a little soft for me, and the low flow shower head was terrible. The location really cannot be beat. You can walk to the pitman center on campus, and there are at least a dozen places to eat within 4-5 blocks.

A lovely place to stay right in the heart of downtown Moscow! The owner have clearly put a ton of work into renovating this motel. Check-in was a breeze, they send you a code for your door and you can head right into your room. The room was spacious and had everything you would expect in a hotel room. There is certainly traffic noise at times of day you'd expect but it quieted down at night. The provided noise machine in the room was fantastic for covering up any noise when trying to sleep. The biggest plus of staying here is you can walk just about anywhere in town for food and it's super easy access to the university campus. I absolutely loved the coffee provided in the room and highly recommend the cafe next door for breakfast!! The only thing I didn't really like was the doors do not have any deadbolts which made me feel somewhat unsafe as a woman traveling alone. All in all, if I ever find myself in the area again I would absolutely stay here!

the room was clean, but the walls are thin so you hear traffic and your neighbors. It's in the heart of downtown so everything is walking distance. You use your phone to check in and out and they have door codes for your room instead of room keys. Price was fair considering the location, comfort, and if your on a tight budget.

Stayed a Friday and Saturday night in one of the bigger rooms/suite end of June 2024. The room was very clean and spacious and comfortable. Everything worked as it should, no issues at all. Employees were fantastic with great attitudes and very welcoming. I see some people say the road noise is a bit much but we did not find that to be a problem. The AC units were running and we had it set to the fan to blow all the time so the white noise drowned out any road noise we may have heard anyway. The location of the place is perfect with so many places in downtown to walk to. Including the amazing farmers market on Saturday just around the corner. I would come back and stay here again if that chance came up and I do recommend others to stay here. Thanks to them for making our weekend getaway pleasurable.

I was surprised to see to renovations for the old motel. It is truly marvelous now! Awesome aesthetic, super clean rooms, and a spectacular front lobby. The proximity to the bustling downtown cannot be matched! My only complaint was the loud AC ( even on low) but it was still worth the visit.

Best hotel location in downtown Moscow. Walk to restaurants, bookstores, shops, farmers market (Saturday), and the campus of U of I. Mid-century motel with comfortable beds, in-room coffee makers with good quality coffee, complimentary filtered water, microwaves, small frig with freezer compartment, ice, lobby and outside patio. Shampoo, conditioner, body gel and lotion all in refillable containers (no mini-bottles) recycling bin. There are two sides to the motel...one is on the back and quieter than the other. They have noise machines in the rooms that worked well for me as I was unable to get a room on the quieter side.
