We usually stay at hotels when being in a city but this place looked so cute online. And it was even better in person! It is set in a quiet neighborhood which makes it really quaint. The rooms are perfect - big comfy bed, plenty of storage and a large walk in shower. The kitchen is brand new and has everything you need. There is a nice sitting area and a nice spot out back to sit and enjoy coffee and a snack. The hosts are super friendly, attentive and available anytime something is needed. We loved this B&B and will definitely come back!

Great location and incredibly designed. A couple of issues: No thermostats in the individuals rooms and it was cold at night. They also had a number to reach out to for toiletries, and when I did so asking for toothpaste, they responded that they did not offer any. I was paying $450/night, and felt it would have been reasonable to offer a $1 small tube of toothpaste. I mentioned to them that the prices were fairly exorbitant for not having toothpaste on hand, and they said the prices were so high because they were really busy (not at all addressing my complaint or making an effort to resolve the issue). I would stay there again at a more reasonable rate and with lowered expectations.

Came to Chicago for a folk concert. The Sono was my best decision! Clean, comfortable, friendly, quiet, and rooftop views. Room had everything I needed. Free parking too! Other hotels charge big time for parking. The fresh baked croissants are to die for! 10 stars!

Wow, how did I not know about this place sooner? I was greeted with a friendly "Sure!" when I asked if I could check in to my room a bit before 3pm (2:15pm). The room itself was very clean and comfortable, especially the bed. And free parking too (that's worth 30 or 40 dollars on its own!)? Yup, I had no trouble getting a spot a few doors down after returning from a night out at 11pm. This will definitely be the first place I check the next time I come to Chicago and need a place to stay.

Everything we expected and needed from a Bed and Breakfast. The room was well-equipped, plentiful continental breakfast, and hospitality from Addie was A++++. Excellent location - walkable to Old Town Wells Street shopping and restaurant area, the Chicago History Museum and Lincoln Park Zoo. Will definitely recommend and hopefully be back !!

Great location! Room was comfortable and clean. Worth noting that if you have heavy suitcases you’ll be needing to go up or down quite a few stairs. I didn’t realize the owner lived on the property until arrival but that wasn’t disruptive at all. I did not have a chance to try breakfast but I look forward to trying it out next time I’m in town. It smelled delicious.

This is not a personalised B&B and so was very disappointing in that respect. We stayed here for 3 nights and had a lovely clean comfortable quiet room. We booked a B&B as we prefer to stay somewhere with a more personalised feel and experience, however, this was sadly not what we got at The Sono. We arrived mid afternoon to a locked gate. We had just arrived from the UK so had no mobile connection. Once we had sorted this out we phoned and were told that they 'had to pop out to get lunch" and we were given a code to get in. We found our room, which was really clean quiet and comfortable and met our needs perfectly. We didn't see anyone until breakfast the next day when a young man arrived in the kitchen at 7.50am and started getting everything out. Other than a "good morning", he didn't say a word to us. Breakfast was as advertised and continental in style. Very basic - freshly cooked Costco pain au chocolat, toast, muffins, cereal, yoghurt and freshly boiled eggs. The milk was curdled and a solitary muffin sat on the cake stand for the entire length of our stay - 3 nights. The second morning the young man arrived in the kitchen at 7.58am for an 8am breakfast start. Again, no conversation, and very impersonal. We couldn't find any information in the B&B on the local area, restaurants etc and with the lack of any human-being to talk to this would have been greatly appreciated. This is the main reason for choosing a B&B over a hotel. The third morning we had a young lady preparing breakfast. She was very pleasant and helped advise us on what to do for our final day in the area. Much appreciated but such a shame that we were at the end of our stay before we saw someone offering any hospitality. To top this off, we emailed The Sono a few days before arriving asking for restaurant recommendations. We were recommended 4 restaurants, one of which had permanently closed for business some time ago. If you are looking for a B&B offering a personalised level of service and with human contact during your stay then this is not the place for you from our experience. The room was lovely - very clean and comfortable. Even so it is hard to justify the cost of our stay here, as a Costco breakfast and distinct lack of personalised service/owner/manager is not what we were expecting from a B&B.
