NillThe heater made extremely loud hissing and banging noises all night long. I got no sleep. It sounded like someone was breaking in. When I mentioned this to the front desk on our way out she said “yes I know which room you are talking about” What a horrible response. If you know it is not a comfortable stay, why book that room out. Customer service 101 acknowledge customer’s comment and say you will look into it. This just goes to show you don’t care. Room prices are too high for such low standards and accommodations. The “it’s an old hotel” isn’t a good excuse. We’ve stayed at updated old hotels that have blown this one away. We’ve stayed here twice now. Will not book again

NillBedding was disgusting - not clean or even sanitary. There was a dead mouse in the ice machine. Bathroom was incredibly small. While the staff was very pleasant during our stay, there were multiple issues with the room. The top comforter had not been laundered. It was visibly very unsanitary. There was dried, raised-up, bloody nasal discharge on one side and an unknown brown stain or substance on the other. We couldn’t use it in that condition and there were no other blankets supplied in the room. We slept with only the sheets. We also came across a dead mouse in the bottom of the ice machine where it was not easily visible and mentioned this to staff twice. Unsure if that was remedied. Finally, the bathroom was beyond small in both the king standard and the king suite so be prepared to for a less than adequate space to comfortably use the toilet. We would not stay here again! That being said the restaurant (Coda) was excellent both the food and the service were top notch.

NillGreat hotel in a historic building in Des Moines. Glad I stayed here. Staff is friendly, everything worked, everything was clean, etc. Aside for a strange banging noise coming from somewhere in the building on floor 10, slept great. Only reason for 4 stars was breakfast. Paid extra for the breakfast included rate and wasn't impressed. Came down at 7 and saw a staff member sleeping in a booth, no oatmeal/bacon/eggs/ hot items of any kind, just a bunch of boxed single serving cornflakes and yogurt. I counted like 6 individual slices of bread. Probably because I stayed there Jan 2, but still, maybe talk to your morning manager?

NillRoom was noisy. The heater sounded like there was construction going on outside and the hot water took a while to heat up. During the stay the front door was blocked off by two of the hotel carts and the side entrance was boarded up. The entrance to the building was some random door down the way. Service was okay and the location was great. A lot of good places to eat and drink.

★★★★My room was fantastic! Having never stayed here before, it looked like a brand new room. ||The only big issue I had is there are no USB charging plugs and I had two things that needed to be charged via USB. I could only charge one thing at a time with my phone charger.||The other thing that was minor is it was hard to read the room signs.||It is close to the Skywalk, which is nice. ||I wouldn't hesitate to stay her again. I would just bring a dual charging adapter.

NillStayed here this weekend and the room was very nice. The location of the hotel is also excellent as many places are within walking distance. Trace at the front desk was wonderful as well, she addressed any concerns we had and ensured everything was taken care of.

NillVery nice older hotel which has been updated. Great location for our needs. Very clean and everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. My one complaint is the size of the bathroom, there was barely enough room to sit on the toilet. It would be impossible for a larger person.

NillThis hotel provided a comfortable and convenient stay. The spacious room, equipped with a large desk, was ideal for business travelers. The service was satisfactory, and the hotel was impeccably clean and well-maintained. Its prime location made it easy to access all the necessary amenities during my business trip.
