NillWe had a block put in place for our wedding on 8/17, we had put this block on 7 months prior and had inquired about the shuttle bus to and from our wedding venue that was only a few miles away. We had only booked this hotel due to the shuttle as that was a great perk to get us to and from the venue. The day before our wedding, we received a call that the shuttle would not be able to drive us, as another hotel had “first dibs” even after inquiring 7 months in advance. When we arrived to check into our room (the bride and groom) they could not find our reservation, and had us standing there for 10-15 minutes trying to find an open room we could stay in, even after showing them the confirmation email we received for the room (while we were in a rush to check in and get to the rehearsal dinner ASAP) we got to our room, outlets did not work, and it looked like someone had just showered in our bathroom. We still were optimistic- then we find out barely any of our guests on the block received the discounted rate, or their rooms were disgusting. One had a broken recliner and another had a non functioning toilet. Any time we tried to talk to someone at the front desk they were not there, almost every time I passed by or sat in the lobby they were outside smoking cigarettes. Then the final morning, I find out a family member was woken up by a front desk gal pounding on their door and screaming that they did not have permission to be inside the room (that they had booked) which ultimately made them unwilling to open the door as the lady was being extremely rude and aggressive. They then said they would meet them at the front desk, which they did, and were given a free night as the front desk had screwed up. Great, but the pounding on the door and screaming at them was extremely ridiculous. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

NillA clean, cool, quiet room perfect for a road trip stop on a cross country trip. Bonus: a Mexican restaurant onsite that is really quite good. Breakfast is decent and convenient. I don't understand the negative reviews based around wedding and honeymoon parties. This is a Best Western pinned between a highway and a trailer park in the middle of Iowa. You may be setting your expectations for your dream life together a little too high.

NillRoom was dark and dingy with no outside window. The only "window" is to the hallway to the indoor pool. Noisy weekend kids were in the pool. Room needs brighter lights and a floor lamp. Needs more outlets for device charging. Cleaning was so-so. Dated and tried.

NillShort review: would I recommend? Yes...ish? My experience here was good... for the most part The staff were friendly and wonderful The pool was nice (only a little over 4 ft deep at the deepest. I'm 6'4 lol) The breakfast was as expected of a hotel, it had a variety of options such as eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, yogurt, apples etc... However, the reason for the 4 star is due to the comfort of the beds within the room we stayed in While on a cross country road trip, we want to get sleep on a comfy mattress to continue driving on our trip The beds were unfortunately springy and overall uncomfortable Both my grandfather and I woke up sore and tired after attempting to get semi comfortable If this hotel redid their rooms and got some comfortable mattresses, this review would be glowing instead of negative I probably would not stay here again unless there was a change in mattress because while everything else is nice I was looking for a decent quality of sleep Thank you to the kind staff!

NillAmber at the front desk was awesome! totally took care of us weary travelers from coming back from Sturgis. The outside cabins are spacious and relaxing. The Mexican restaurant next door is delicious too!! They even stayed open late for us to get some grub and cocktails before bed. Aily was an excellent server as well. Thanks for taking care of us.

NillI don’t ever do this kind of thing but I stayed here for a wedding over the weekend my stay for 2 nights was $250 for 1 queen bed room not a suite. The shower is the most DISGUSTING thing I’ve ever seen you would think for as much as your paying that could at least fix water damage and the mold and mildew growing out of the shower. Our bed was extremely uncomfortable woke up Saturday morning with an insane headache being uncomfortable and hard on my neck all night. The breakfast don’t even try it’s not edible hopefully you stay in a month where you don’t need A/C or heat bc they smell like they are burning . Also make sure you come with your phone charged you can’t plug anything into the walls. Seriously doesn’t look like they have done maintenance checks on anything since the 1980s. For $250 is absolutely insane when i stayed at a hotel in spirit lake for $180 for two nights and it was a brand new hotel. Every person in this wedding party had a complaint about the rooms so that’s why im making this . If you are just looking for a cheap hotel for a couple nights this is not the place because it’s neither cheap or reliable I read other reviews now and multiple people have all said the same things . Multiple people in the wedding party also had to have there room moved because nothing was working or something was broken. If you don’t want to leave smelling like cigarettes I would highly suggest another hotel! Also front desk lady left a message for the manager but reading these reviews I’m sure I won’t get a call back:)

NillThe cabins are great! The pool was a little green and very cold, but the kids enjoyed it! There are no linens for the pull out sofa, but they'll gladly give them to you if you just ask. Friendly staff, and having a Mexican Restaurant attached is AWESOME! We will definitely stay again!
