NillThe Literary Hotel exceeded our expectations! We were in town for a wedding and the location was perfect. We walked everywhere we needed to be! The hotel is gorgeous, super clean, quiet, and has wonderful boutiques on the main floor for shopping. My daughter-in-law even bought an outfit to wear just hours before the wedding! The owner/manager Al is super friendly and available. He answered all of our questions and more. I recommend the Literary Hotel for an enjoyable stay. I know we will be back!

NillWe stayed two nights at the literary for our daughters wedding which was nearby. We were very impressed at the uniqueness of the rooms and the very comfortable beds, quality linens, and just overall top notch amenities. Al was so kind to let us check in early and it gave us a little time to nap before our events started that night. Our son who stayed with us travels with his band a lot and was very impressed with the room and said it was nicer than some $900 rooms they've stayed in! Hope to stay again someday. Thank you literary for a great two nights!

NillI enjoyed staying at this surprising gem in Solon, Iowa. Being an alumni of the University of Iowa and Cornell in Mount Vernon, it is nice to know we have this in between option. It was very easy to book and the communication was excellent leading up to the stay. I got there too late to enjoy the little shops in the lobby, but they looked quaint and wonderful, and the art and decor of the hotel is charming, historic and fitting. Shower is a rainshower - such a treat. If there were any notes it would be this - We found the bedding to be lovely but a little too lightweight and no blankets were available. Also the pillows were king sized and really full - all of them - which is great if you like that but I wish there were a mix of hard and soft pillows (particularly for my younger son). Still - All in all - a delight. We’ll be back!

NillWonderfully redone old building into a boutique hotel! If I wanted to disappear for a while to write my bestseller book (JK that's not happening) it would be here. It's in a lovely small town with everything you could need but still has the small town atmosphere, and very close to Iowa City and cedar rapids where you can get every city thing you would possibly need. Loved the room on the first floor where you can get snacks. Loved the rooms and the stocked refrigerators and nice coffee makers. One suggestion that I think would make your solo travelers feel better (especially women) add peepholes to the doors.

NillThis hotel is perfectly located in downtown Solon and close to Iowa City. It was beautifully made into a five star quality hotel with gorgeous rooms and very comfortable beds and linens. The entire hotel is exceptionally clean. The boutique stores have fantastic finds as well. Walking distance to several restaurants and local bars as well.

NillWe love staying at The Literary Hotel. The rooms are really nice and the beds and linens are super comfortable and high quality. Perfect location, wonderful staff and always an excellent experience. We've stayed here probably 8 times over the last few years while our son attended school in Mt. Vernon.

NillThe Literary Hotel was a great place to stay. The aesthetic is modern with amazing exposed brick. Solon has some great restaurants and cute shops. We had a small issue with our room and the owner got us a new one and gave us a credit back. Wonderfully accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!

NillThe room and decor is cute, bed is comfortable and location cannot be beat. But there is a major issue with our stay due to the lack of sound proofing in the hotel. The whole place is of original hardwood, which has loud squeaks when one walk on it. There is also a giant gap under the room door and the hallway so one can hear every footstep and conversation bouncing around outside the room. Also the floor from adjacent rooms squeaked so much this morning it felt like there was another person walking inside our hotel room, which makes the stay unpleasant.
