Best Friend Baby Shower Road Trip: Two best friends going to their best friends daughter's baby shower. Recipe - Lovely and historic Inn, three beautiful days, comfy and clean bedroom & bath, private parking, morning coffee, walking distance to hip/quaint town and our baby shower! ||Top this with Elizabeth, the lady of the house, who could not have been kinder from the point of booking and there you have it - a dream come true! ||It's hard to find time to get together with friends and family these days. For such a special event as a baby shower, if you can have it be a weekend where you can just relax/laugh with people you love and have it all align is something I know I will always remember. Thank you, Elizabeth. See you again.

This lovely victorian bed and breakfast is so authentic you would expect a ghost to prowl the stairways and rattle around the upper floors. Ah, but not so. The beds, bathroom fixtures and services are all very much up-to-date. Enjoy the excellent breakfast and feel free to lounge on the front porch or walk into town. The Grand Dutchess is conveniently located off the main road and within easy access to lovely shops and restaurants. The beds are so comfortable you you will be tempted to extend your stay.

Another B&B recommended the Grand Duchess so we were delighted to get a last-minute room. Beth, one of the owners, greeted us and was helpful in recommending places for dinner. The room was well-furnished and charming. No TV. The bathroom was clean, the soap luscious, the towels okay, the shower water hot. Disappointments: no coffee in the morning, nor was there anyone to ask about breakfast. We decided to eat breakfast at the "historic" Red Hook Diner just down the road, which was a good call.

We came for some dear friends weddings and this listing was not in their registry, but it was just what we wanted. Elizabeth is a gracious and kind host who goes out of her way to make sure you feel accommodated. It's within walking distance of shops and eateries. The house is also breathtaking; it's as if it were crystalized time. If you're staying in Red Hook and don't mind a beautiful set of stairways, book with Elizabeth. She'll take care of you ❤️‼️

If you're looking for a home away from home but still with professional service this is the place to go! The owner and Innkeeper, Beth, is an amazing host. She is always ready to accommodate your needs regardless of what they are; she will try her hardest to make everything perfect for you. It's like going back to the your childhood when you could sleep in and wake up to a delicious breakfast in a stunning Victorian era home. Beth is so committed to quality that she has taken many courses at The Culinary Institute of America in order to improve the quality of her cooking. Beth also knows the Hudson Valley area like the back of her hand and is always willing to help visitors find things to do, she will make dinner reservations for you, and if she is unable to take a reservation from you she will go out of her way to help you find another location to book a room. It truly is a homely atmosphere, filled with treasures that create an ambiance to enjoy.

My daughter and I happened upon this B & B based upon a recommendation of another B & B owner whom I contacted for a room without availability. Beth and Harold the owners, were kind enough to allow us to book a room for 2 nights, and I say this because most B & B's I've stayed at do not permit children under the age of 12, and for good reason! My daughter is 2 1/2 , and it was such a gift to be able to stay in a place where we felt safe, were well fed, and were close to the wedding venue. We stayed in Loretta's Lounge, a second floor room with queen sized bed on the front of the house facing the street. The sheets were super soft, the pillows perfect and the water pressure excellent. Breakfast and coffee (yay!) were available starting at 9, which was perfect for us. They have a large back yard, and the home is located within walking distance of the downtown area, which was great. Fresh fruit was offered both mornings, and there was cereal/granola if you weren't interested in what was being served for breakfast. I have to admit the breakfast both mornings was good! Veggie egg scramble with potatoes and sausage Saturday morning, and pancakes and bacon Sunday. They even went out of their way to make my daughter's breakfast plate special each morning, an egg mountain Saturday with a sausage volcano, and Sunday, mini chocolate chips on her pancakes. A really sweet touch that this momma appreciated. It's very close to Bard College the Tivoli Wildlife Management Area. If we had more time I would have liked to hit some of the distilleries and wineries in the area. Next time we come up! I would recommend this B & B and would stay there again.

Our family of three enjoyed our night spent at the Grand Duchess. We stayed in Carol's Suite, which features a good-sized sitting room with a large fold-out couch bed, a side room with a bed, and a modest bathroom (the bathroom and bedroom are on either side of the living room). It is on the third floor, which features a spacious and inviting hallway-lounge space, with snacks and coffee station. ||||We had a lovely breakfast the next morning, in a beautifully appointed dining room. The whole house is a treasure trove of Victorian bric-a-brac, very atmospheric and historic-feeling, but also homey and inviting. We practically had it to ourselves, due to the time of year. Also, a big plus is that it is located a short and easy walk right into the town of Red Hook, where we enjoyed visiting the Enchanted Cafe, and dinner at Cancun's.

I highly recommend the Grand Dutchess Bed and Breakfast in Red Hook. My wife and I were visiting our son at nearby Bard College. We were greeted warmly by the proprietor, Beth and shown to our room, Patrice's Parlor, a lovely space on the third floor. Plenty of authentic antiques filled (but did not clutter) the downstairs rooms. The dining room was lovely and breakfast was served promptly and was delicious. Avoid the Kingston chain hotels and enjoy the quaintness of Dutchess County.
