Tru by Hilton Cleveland Midtown

Simple and clean. Breakfast was good, would have been better if there was bacon and biscuits and gravy. Quiet room in a seemingly quiet neighborhood. I would stay here again, but would prefer a location closer to downtown, I think. Called for wash cloths at 9am and was told I would have to come get them because housekeeping wasn’t there yet. All in all, a good place to stay.

This hotel is really nice. It’s beautiful, clean, new, comfortable and the staff are wonderful. The only slight issue is the neighborhood. Parts of it feel fine but some parts feel a bit unsafe. I went to a nearby CVS and they have security by the front door with most items locked up. Just a little alarming if you are not from a city where it’s common. That being said, we would stay here again. We just wouldn’t walk around the hotel at night, but also have no need to.

We arrived for check in and the computers were down. The staff did a decent job working through that with everyone waiting to be checked in. We had multiple bags with us and were unable to get key cards to the room. We offered to come back after lunch but was let in our room to put our bags down. The room was surface level clean, but when you looked closer, dirty. Floors under nightstands were covered with dirt and we had a broken light next to the bed with exposed wires. After checking the sheets and bed they were found to be extremely dirty. The mattress did not have a protector on it and the sheets had clumps of hair throughout. The bottom of the mattress was covered in crumbs and filth. When we were headed out to lunch I stopped at the desk and apologized for complaining but requested a new set of sheets. I told staff if they could be brought to the room while we were gone I would even make the bed. Staff apologized and said “no problem”. We left for 3 hours and when we returned (lobby was empty) the room was exactly how we left it. I called down to the desk and spoke to staff and explained we had wanted new sheets and did not receive them. The woman I spoke to who was rude, not apologetic or helpful. We waited 30 more minutes and had to leave for our event. My husband went down to the desk to ask for the sheets and he said the woman at the desk just walked away from him without saying anything. Several minutes later a staff member came up and my husband and her made the bed. We still tipped her twenty dollars and was extremely grateful she finally came up, we felt bad complaining on top of their stress with the computers. We went to our work event but still ended up going back to get our bags and left the hotel at 12:30 AM because we were both uncomfortable staying. Extremely disappointing stay.

Rooms are cozy. 2 of the lights didn't work, the staff was polite and friendly. 24/7 coffee in the lobby. Only 1 ice machine. It's nice has an outside area with a fireplace. Bed was comfy. We stayed for a concert and it was totally worth it.

We stayed here for a quick stay over as we were heading home and had been driving all day. Got there about 9- left before 8:30 am. The very first impression we got was not a good one. The gentleman behind the desk was sitting the entire time we checked in- as well as the guests checking in before us. He looked either bored, unhappy to be there, or sick. Couldn't tell which one. No greeting, nothing. He barely said 2 words the entire time. Just plain miserable.. For the amount of $$ for one night- I guess I expected at least a hello. The room- well- is not having a hair dryer a new thing for Hiltons? Because the room did not have one. Also had an empty tissue box and an alarm that was set for 5:45.. waking us up and unable to go back to bed. Other than those irritating factors, the too was clean and spacious. The breakfast was the upside to our stay. The woman kept it stocked, food was hot, and plenty of choices. Wouldn't be back however for the lack of speaking on the gentlemans part when checking in. I expect better from Hilton.

Location is terrible. Two trips in 6 months for family hospital stay and both times cars were broken into. This last stay over 10 cars were broken into in the parking lot in the same night. Families that are experiencing loved ones’ illness or injury don’t need added stress of theft and damages to vehicles. Recommend to leave car parked at hospital parking garage and utilize shuttle if possible.

Nice, clean hotel with incredibly friendly staff and great little extras sprinkled throughout. Stayed as a couple, but plan to stay again with the kids next time. Cute decor, comfy beds, great location near everything at an unbeatable price. Time and time again, we've found that you can't go wrong with a Hilton and this specific location was no different.

Do NOT stay here. Filthy mattress covers and mattresses with large rust-colored stains, insect parts, and other evidence of bed bug infestation (not to mention large clumps of hair). Second room was no better, had to leave. Front desk staff was apologetic and responsive, which was much appreciated, but this hotel has massive issues. The location is also quite rough.
