NillThe room was very clean with 2 queen size beds, that were very comfortable. There was a microwave and a mini fridge. I have 2 minor complaints. When taking a shower, everything in the bathroom got very wet, even though I had the fan on. The shower head was located very low. I'm 5'10" and it was at the back of my neck so I had a difficult time washing my hair. The windows opened which would've been nice, except one window didn't have a screen and the other on would stay open without being propped up. I would stay here again, hopefully those complaints would be addressed, but they aren't a deal breaker. La Grande is a quaint small old town, The Rodeway in is in a good location and we felt safe. The owner was very nice and the woman who cleaned the room was also nice.

NillI'm not sure what some of the other reviews are talking about. A nice neighbourhood, a five minute walk to the town centre where there are restaurants and bars. Clean and comfortable, good bed, good a/c, parking right outside. I just wish the city didn't schedule garbage collection at 5.45 but that's not the hotels fault! Had a very good stay, would be happy to return.

NillWe spent the weekend here, and enjoyed it. It's an old motel, but the rooms were updated in a sort of DIY fashion. Carpet was newer, beds were comfortable, with cotton bedding (no old polyester stuff). The bathroom still had the old pink tub and tile, but it was clean. Flat screen TV with cable service. As in most old motels, the walls are thin, so best to be in a room not next to anyone. The front desk lady is very sweet and helpful. I read that someone complained about the location being sketchy. My wife's family live in this neighborhood (the reason we visit there so often), and I promise you it's completely safe! It's about 10-12 blocks from the downtown area. We have stayed at most of the hotel/motels in La Grande over the years. For some reason, most of them are way over priced. I've heard that one company/owner bought up several of them and created somewhat of a monopoly. Most of them are in the $150-250/night range (summer), and believe me, most of them are old and outdated. I've heard that the Best Western might be the exception. So we have come to the conclusion that we might as well stay somewhere cheaper, since all the motels in La Grande are a little on the old and grungy side. The Rodeway Inn fits the bill. Yes it's old, but it's clean and somewhat updated. No worse than most of the other motels in La Grande that cost twice as much. My 4 star rating is meant to be "as compared to" other motel/hotels in La Grande. Judged by the standards of say Portland or Seattle, the Best Western would be a 3 star, and all the rest would be 1-2 star hotels.

NillThe room smelled like urine, the bathroom is old and wasn't cleaned. The neighborhood felt very unsafe. No breakfast no thing. I felt so uneasy I had to go look elsewhere. I couldn't even stay for ten minutes due to the horrible smell. Who knows if the bed was cleaned. I didn't bother to lay on it due to concerns for bugs. The check in young lady was very polite and friendly. It was a very old and unclean location. I definitely DO NOT recommend this place. 5-18.... In response to owner....you were NOTeven there that day and I was not offered a different room. I asked for the manager to call back and I am yet to receive a call or a refund....

NillStayed for a total of about 2 weeks on work travel. Great service and location, and the rooms were good enough. Also stayed at Travelodge on the other side of town on the same trip, which I wrote a review for too. They both have similar rates and are among only a few options in town that are below federal government per diem, but I like the Rodeway better overall. In terms of service, Liz at the front desk is wonderful. She helped accommodate my reservation requests and changes. She was so friendly and pleasant to deal with. And she's almost always there, which helps with consistency of service. Travelodge has several different employees that work in shifts, which is OK, but not the same level of consistency. I also much prefer the location. It's in a relatively quiet, residential neighborhood. I went on many nice walks. It's also a short walk to Veteran's Memorial Pool, a really nice aquatic center, and a big park next to the pool. Travelodge is in a more commercial/industrial part of town, which is helpful for shopping, but not quite as nice. The rooms I stayed in were good enough. It seemed like they'd recently been repainted and recarpeted, and they were clean. The HVAC units seemed new, too. Compared to the Travelodge, the rooms here felt a bit cramped. I also appreciate that the room doors at Rodeway had that extra safety latch that can only be opened from the inside. FYI, the Google Maps description is outdated: there is no pool here anymore. The description doesn't seem to be a part of the listing that I can suggest an edit for. If anyone from Google is reading this, please update the listing.

NillClean, comfortable room at a good price. The area is very safe, contrary to another reviewers comment. A safe, small town, with good places to eat and drink. Believe the positive reviews.
