I stayed at the Kennedy School March 18 - 20 for a business conference. The atmosphere of the location was really artistic and unique, as it reflected strongly the former life of the hotel as an elementary school. Room was comfortable if slightly shopworn, with amazing art renderings on the headboard and wall reflecting the vibe of the place. Conference facility was fine, food was fresh and palatable across the board. Best aspect was the customer service provided. The front desk, manned 24/7 was quickly responsive to every question and need, never more so than when I left my prescription glasses behind on departure for the airport. Not only did the front desk respond quickly when I called, they called me back when they found my glasses and offered to mail them to my home address gratis. I was very, very impressed by their staff. Definitely would recommend for anyone who wants to stay someplace with real character and charm and great service.

Awesome old school turned into a hotel and adult playground, that is also kid friendly! Our daughter loved the soaking pool and theatre. We really enjoyed all the different bars and restaurants! Looking forward to our next Mcmenamins stay!!

Wife and I stayed a few nights for our anniversary, and had an excellent time. So much to do on property, including a number of bars/restaurants, a movie theater, shuffleboard/pinball, and an amazing soaking pool. Rooms were small but had everything we needed (no TV, but that was not a problem for us). Staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. Definitely enjoyed our stay and knocked another McMenamins property off of our passport!

Stayed for my birthday and walked to a concert. Room was small but amazing. Soaking pool was incredible. Food was great and ciders were fire. I love all the eclectic decorations and the history of the building. So creative and a definitive must. We even stayed a second night cuz we didn't see everything and enjoyed it so much. Love ❤️

This place is VERY Portland. I enjoyed my stay mainly because I love the eclectic, funky artwork - it's aesthetically invigorating. The rooms are not terribly big, but the interesting decoration redeems their smaller size. The bathroom is kind of blah - could be bigger and more commodious (a bathtub would be nice). The soaking pool was way too crowded, so I avoided it. The Courtyard Tavern had VERY uninteresting, mediocre, overpriced food, which doesn't make any sense, because I would think a "hip" place like McMenamins would want to serve up a nicer culinary experience for its guests. I enjoyed my stay overall and might be back, but I will likely avoid the restaurant, which is too bad, since it's very convenient to the rooms. My advice is to revamp the menu and hire a real chef!

It was unique and a fun place to be on Valentines Day but the general attitude of most staff was dark and not very inviting. I wouldn't stay there if I wanted common hotel amenities. 4 stars because rooms were clean and ours was quiet.

My lady and I have been here a few times for the soaking pool and drinks. It's delightful. A little crowded sometimes and not really a great pool for children. Perfectly safe and appropriate but splashing is very frowned upon. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The boiler room bar is one the most spectacular places I have ever been. I cannot describe accurately how it was a beautiful, incredible, and jaw dropping piece of art but the coolest little cozy bar. Very intimate and inviting. The bartender was amazing. He was funny, witty, and very friendly. And he made me an amazing drink. Quality ingredients in appropriate proportions. So delicious and worth every penny. can't speak to the hotel portion's quality but if it's anything like what I have seen so far it must be great.

The restaurant food was good but we had a waiter that never came back to our table once he gave us our water and appetizer. We had to ask other staff for refills and to order our dessert. He was still in the restaurant but disappeared for quite awhile.
