This greatly updated historic hotel provided charm and comfort in a very busy location. From the friendly staff and inviting guest rooms, our 5 day stay was exceptional. Easy walking to wonderful coffee shops and restaurants. The hotel bar was quaint with many offerings. Highly recommend staying!

Great service but the building feels like an old historical hotel that won’t get approval to change the frame of the hotel. Bed was too soft it sagged in the middle. I went skiing all day and felt like I had to sleep on the ski slopes. Also, because insulation is poor, we blasted the heat to literally 80 degrees but it was so drafty that it felt more like 65 all night. Floors are not flat and sloping due to old age. You can hear every noise from the hallway. They acknowledge that and two sets of earplugs are provided for each room in the bathroom without asking. Water pressure is good. Diptyique wash amenities (which I don’t think it was deserving considering the Ritz Carlton in Portland has same). Good location. Would not stay here again though. The worst part, huge menstrual period blood stain on the bedding. Gross. However, service was friendly and great. What a shame and thus 2 stars (and not 1).

The exterior rooms are incredibly loud with road noise well into the early AM. Motorcycles, buses, and at one point a full-out street brawl with shouting and screaming for over an hour. Sleep is almost impossible. The historic hotel is beautiful, but apparently that historic-ness makes it impossible to do anything to block some of the noise coming from the street. It basically sounds like all of the windows are wide open - you can clearly hear everything going on.

This is a perfect hotel. The amenities, colors, Portland vintage, and overall atmosphere are all wonderful. And the staff are friendly and kind. I loved the different art frames on each floor. What was especially impressive was the interior design that even considered the angle of the mirror in the room. I could fully enjoy Portland in the fall with my friend. The restaurant staff were also very kind. Thank you. I will recommend this to all my people.

This hotel is very strong. The people who work there were ALL friendly and helpful. I left something in my room and they mailed it to me, free. And the neighborhood is full of great restaurants, and fun things to do. If you are visiting a student at REED college, it is a very easy drive, as well. Much better experience staying here vs. other visits where I stayed downtown.

Was quite disappointed with our stay. First, they charge a $100 security deposit per night you are there. According to them if all is good, you will get this back but it can take 10 days to be returned to your card. Second, for the price we paid, the cleanliness of the room was a let down. Bathmat had stains and hair on it. The room smelled a little musty, and the bottom sheet also had dirt on it. I will say, we didn’t bring these up with anyone for two reasons. First, we were there for only two nights, and these were things we could live with. Second I work in customer service and the person you complain to isn’t always the person in charge, they can be trying their best. We certainly could had paid the same amount or less and got a room that felt cleaner than this one and one that didn’t charge a security deposit per night. We won’t be returning, and we won’t be recommending those we know stay here.

Poor parking, but an otherwise great and charming place to stay in the city and still feel taken care of. With the addition of safe parking and a spa, this place would have it all. Staff are friendly, accommodations are high quality, and the snacks and drinks from the minibar are reasonably priced.

Nice place. Cool decor, comfy beds. Not your everyday hotel, and a VERY good price. The shower is HOT with loads of pressure, and the towels are fluffy and yummy!! The staff is GREAT - friendly and very helpful. And tge location was perfect for what we needed. My only issues - A heads up about Portland parking would be helpful on the website - esp for visitors who don't know how hard it is to park here and to prepare us for the valet sticker shock. Also, the bed was too low for me. With bad knees I had trouble getting up from it. But it WAS very comfy with GREAT pillows.
