NillOur family group of three stayed in a three bedroom cabin for six nights, the last week of September 2024. As other reviewers have noted it is so nice to return to Canyon Lake Resort after a long day of site seeing. We would relax outside enjoying the lake and especially the ducks, geese, and deer friends. Our cabin had a full-sized kitchen, one bathroom with toilet and sink, and another bathroom with shower and sink. Bedrooms are a good size, two rooms with one queen bed each and one room with two twins. Living room area has a couch, recliner, and big screen TV. For us it was fine, but note that there is one air conditioner in the living room area but none in bedrooms. The staff we met were wonderful from the booking process, to seeing them throughout our stay, and check out. On site full laundromat is great. I would book here again as the peaceful setting with lake, wildlife and a creek trail, connected with the resort, is not to be found at a standard hotel.

NillLoved staying at Canyon Lake! We were greeted by a variety of friendly wildlife, the room opened to the lake, offered a mini kitchen, and a big room for spreading out. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely, someplace we would stay again.

NillWe have been going to this resort for 22 years. Love the location, room and cabin set ups, staff are very friendly. Good nearby walking trails. Geese are a bit grouchy. Dog friendly

NillStaff was amazing! Very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Could not have asked for a better view, our room overlooked the grass and lake. Very family friendly, we did not cook this trip, but had a tiny kitchen and great outdoor bbq area- pool is small but perfect for taking a dip after a long day of exploring. I would stay again and will be recommending to family.

★★★★★Returned home yesterday afternoon after a Blackhills visit centered around a three night stay at the Canyon Lake Resort - we could not have been more pleased with our choice. We are retired and getting up there in years. We chose to visit after Labor Day knowing that all things would be dialed back quite a bit and we were not disappointed. We'd booked a two bedroom cabin knowing we'd have additional space and for us that was a good choice. Some have used 'dated' to describe this resort, but that's a bit harsh in my opinion. Yes, some of the buildings clearly cannot pretend to be modern in the current sense, but they are very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Our cabin had everything we needed and nothing we didn't. Furnishings are simple, but adequate and you'll find nothing pretentious. These are not B&Bs or Condos, they're places for families and friends to hangout after a day of exploring the 'Hills'. We enjoyed a newer gas grill and picnic table, along with a great fire pit area that's completely stocked with split wood and everything you'd need to get things going. The whole is surrounded by wonderful and nearly new composite Adirondack chairs - very comfortable. The resort grounds are well kept and the entire setting has a nice laid-back feel. The lake itself is very pretty and under normal circumstances the resort provides a small fleet of pedal boats free for guest use. Unfortunately the lake was closed during our stay because it was needed to fight an ongoing forest fire that was not too far away.at, but not least, the entire staff is friendly, accommodating and easy going, just regular folks you could have a pleasant conversation with. I'm an older guy and I'm kinda fussy about too many things, but I really liked our stay at Canyon Lake Resort. Unfortunately I doubt we'll ever be going back because life is getting short and there's still much we'd like to see. But if we did, Canyon Lake is where'd we'd stay without question.

NillMyself and two teenagers really enjoyed staying here. You can tell they are working on updating which was fun to see the changes vs the pictures online. The location was great, you are in town, but it doesn't feel like it. The paddle boats are fun on Canyon Lake. Being able to have a fire at night, was great. The pool was not up and working since we visited during the off season for that. All the staff was super nice. The cabins we thought were fun. I enjoyed that there was basics in the kitchen for cooking. The pull out bed was actually pretty decent, we were surprised by this. If I need to stay in Rapid City again, I would stay here.

NillThis place is amazing. Location is perfect for 3 days 4 nights trip in Black Hills area including the Devil's Tower. We could go all the tourist places very conveniently. There's an osprey nest in the middle of this lodge territory, we could easily see its grandeur gliding. My kids really loved the free pedal boating while watching ospreys / turkey condors / herons / ducks / geese floating & flying nearby. Don't miss swallow nest town underneath the bridge in the middle of lake. We had very good BBQ powered by Gas and free campfire experience was very satisfactory as well. I wish I could stay here more.

★★★★★Kind staff, clean cabin, spacious and great value for the cost! Lovely environment, casual and comfortable camping feel. Nice little outdoor heated pool with towels. Ice available on-site was handy. Our daughter loved the ice cream truck across the street.
