The Residency Inn

Online, this motel looked relatively fine from the pictures. The front office was constantly occupied by transients. Every door is rusted over. Upon entering my room I was hit with the smell of cigarette smoke. I did some investigating and found cigarette butts under the bed, markings on the wall that looked like fecal matter. Shelves barely hanging on if you hung a shirt it would fall. The toilet seat had crusted toilet paper on it. I removed the mattress protector to look at the mattress, its stained pretty good. The furniture inside looks like it was bought at a beat down garage sale. The 15” tv works great and the guy at the front counter was nice.

I did not stay at the hotel, but parked my vehicle here when I went on a cruise. The attendant was pleasant and gave me great information concerning taxis and shuttles. Please note that if you park here, they do not have shuttle service. I used an Uber to take me back and forth to the port.

Booked this place thinking “how bad can it be?” But it turns out, it can be quite bad. Filthy, dirty, uncared for completely. The definition of a dirty, cheap, sleezy motel. But for $200 a night? Highway robbery. Filth covering the walls, cigarette butts in multiple places in the room, stains on anything and everything, and if there was paint anywhere, it was peeling. We couldn’t even stay in there for 30 minutes and even by that point, I was itching constantly. Horrible regret booking this place. Save yourself and your family. Book almost anywhere else.

Place looked great on the website, but when we arrived, it looked sketchy. We checked in through a window outside, check in person not very friendly. She did not say anything about check out time. Get to the room and have a hard time opening the door. The room is very musty smelling, no phone in the room, curtains have what looks like blood on them, there are no trash cans, no towels of any kind in the room, no extra toilet paper and the TV doesn't work. The walls look like the shelving was pulled off and never replaced and the bathtub looks like it is peeling. The shower head barely worked. Oh, and there is no safety latch on the door, it appeared to have been ripped off. I would never recommend this place, nor will we ever stay here again.

Disgusting nasty dirty. I have no clue how this hotel is even open still. There was a large gap in the door, no batteries in the smoke detector, sticky floors, dirty counter and bedside tables, the bed sheets were stained and had holes in them. Staff is unpleasant and unhelpful. We saw the room and checked right back out. If you have standards avoid this dump.

The worst motel experience of our lives. The rooms were dirty and rundown, tvs didn’t work, and they smelled like an ashtray even though the rooms are listed as non-smoking. The day shift person told us it was no issue to switch rooms and to just call back and let him know for sure. After I got confirmation from the rest of the group I called back 4 or 5 times with no answer. We got to the front desk and the night shift staff told us there was no way for her to switch our rooms after explaining the situation. After asking the cleaning lady a little later if she could let the front desk know the tvs didn’t work, a maintenance worker switched our rooms with no difficulty (the maintenance worker is the only positive part of the stay, he was very nice, the complete opposite of the night shift lady. The day shift person was also very friendly). Yes they’re cheap rooms, but they also are the complete opposite of what they’re listed online as. 0/10, this place was horrible. It does say that it’s under new management, so hopefully they can clean it up because it’s not in a bad location.

Galveston stay during toghest 10 . Venue has changed ownership and quality no longer there. Weekly and monthly rentals are definitely contributing factors in quality of stay. Sprayed room yet residual odor still remained. Opting for a different hotel during my next stay.

Came in with no reservation. After dark, getting lost in the roads under construction on my way to Texas City finding this place available coming into Galveston was a relief. The construction needs a lot of maintenance but the basics for a traveler in an emergency were there. A kind receptionist, a clean room, a clean extra blanquet, a great hot shower and silence. The furniture outdated but in good working order. No security issues. The people working there deserve 5 stars. The place will benefit if the owner wins the lottery and gives this prime location a total make over.
