Holiday Inn Resort Galveston-on the Beach, an IHG Hotel

The property is making great progress on updating the facility. The rooms are clean and modern. I love that there is no carpet; especially since this is a beach facility. The front desk staff was professional and friendly and on top of their game. Definitely recommend this hotel. I would recommend that anyone needing a shower that has bars for the elderly or disabled let staff know at check in.

This will be a premier location when construction is completed. I stood in one of the new rooms on 6th floor and it was clean, quiet, and spacious. The bed was comfortable. There were plenty of outlets and good lighting. The elevators and outside hallways were dirty sand dimly lit. The dumpster and construction materials in the rear parking lot made the experience of going to and from my room a scary one. When construction is complete it’ll be great, I’m sure! For now I’d say, getting to and from my room was the only downside.

When we drove up the entrance was very clean and looked great. As soon as we approached the front desk, Don and Darryl greeted us and made us feel right at home. Their positive and upbeat attitude was outstanding and quite refreshing. Don was the team member that completed our checkin. He was outstanding. His knowledge, great personality and genuine care was outstanding. We were checked in within minutes. He explained all the amenities including the restaurant, pool and the best place to park for off-load. As soon as we entered the room it smelled fresh and clean. The room itself was super clean and updated nicely. We loved the large bottles of hand soap and lotion on the bathroom counter as well as those same bottles in the shower along with body wash. Super comfortable bed, awesome fluffy pillows and responsive environmental controls. We are so glad we came here--we'll be back.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort Galveston on the beach, and the staff was amazing, very pleasant and professional. Don at the front desk was very accommodating, the computers were down so I was unable to print out my cruise documents, he had me email my documents and printed them out for me. We were welcomed with great altitudes, warm personalities and smiles. I would definitely stay at the hotel again because of the great customer service we received. 5 STARS for the amazing staff and the rooms were very clean.

Stayed before going on a cruise. Rooms have been recently updated and are in great shape. The staff have all been friendly and helpful. Dinner at the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was $16 per person, overpriced for what we ate... although I'm not sure it would have been cheaper to eat someplace else. Definitely a good choice!

From the moment we checked in, Darrell was congenial and helpful at the reception desk. I went back to see him several times before he left at 11:00 p,m. as we had 4 rooms with family members checking in at different hours, and he was just as jovial as when we first arrived. The bed slept like a dream. The sheets were so soft. I appreciated the ease of leaving our cars behind the hotel for our 7 day cruise. They were safe and secure when we returned. The shuttle bus to the port was another perk of the parking package.

The service and the location are wonderful. The scenery was beautiful. The rooms are very update and clean. The hospitality is immaculate and they give you a very welcoming feeling. The restaurant was wonderful as well. I made sure to tell my company to book me there everytime I'm in Galveston.

I very rarely leave bad reviews but I feel this one is warranted. Future guests need to know before they reserve. Hotel is under construction. The first room they gave us had scaffolding on our balcony. We couldn't even step out and sit down. I requested a different room. 2nd room was like walking back into 1980. Dark brown everything including the roach in our bathroom. Room was damp and musty. Carpet was so filthy our feet were dirty immediately from walking on it. Ceiling had spackle patchwork from previous leaks. Room view was AC units on top of the restaurant. Entry to rooms(motel style outdoors, wet and raining) is creepy and really needs to be enclosed as hallways once they remodel. I stay at IHG all of the time and this is by far the worst I have stayed in. Other IHG on the island are much better and worth the extra money. Front desk didn't disclose $10 parking until check out and I refused to pay that. They did remove it from the bill. When I addressed all of the room and pest issues, the front desk representative said "I'll let them know." Not sure who "them" is, but it needs to be the owner. That hotel needs to be torn down and built back new. It's in bad shape.
