NillWe went on castaway caboose in June and the employees were absolutely wonderful! We had to leave early due to my daughter being sick. John went above and beyond to help us. Andrew and him made sure it was a memorable experience for my son. All of us loved it and ask us multiple times a week when we are going back. It was a beautiful place to camp. I cannot say enough wonderful things about everyone there and their kindness meant so much to us.

NillJust got back from the Castaway Caboose and had an awesome time! Kids loved it, and we were there with another family so they were able to put both cabooses at the same camp site which made for a great time. Super nice and accommodating folks, and the cleaning crew does a fantastic job. No worries about having a “dirty cabin” feel here. Hiking consists of walking down the tracks, but the kiddos loved playing in the river more than anything else. Pulled out one 6” brook trout over a couple hours of fishing. Hevener station has the more readily available access to a fishing hole if that is your thing. Love getting back to nature and unplugging from all the electronics for a couple of days, but there is also a hot shower at the end of the day. Definitely put it on your list if you are lucky enough to score some reservations.

NillWe booked the day the season opened! IT WAS AMAZING! took 3 kids and they loved loved loved it. The perfect escape for everyone. We were a bit surprised when the train stopped at our camp and 100 people unloaded for a 15 min break, but they said that this was the last year the train would stop at the campsite, so you won't have to worry. Make sure you grocery shop way before town, the local store only has the very essentials. We are booking again for next year!

NillWe left Sunday June 11 -14th. The experience is one of a kind: staying in the caboose, exploring a national forest, and being completely cut off from electronics and phone service is amazing! Our kids fished for crayfish while the other caboose had a group of fishermen who were enjoying their time as well. We got lucky because the entire summer season was booked before the end of Feb. And I was able to snag a cancelation in late April. For those looking to get away from it all, I highly recommend! Also great Glamping alternative as there is a shower, toilet, oven, and refrigerator provided.

NillThe owners of the Train Excursion took the time to speak with me, and it wasn't part of my tour. They were just an extremely friendly, extremely nice couple that sat by the rest area with me, and we just shot the breeze. We talked about everything from family to football. The conductor/tour guide was a really friendly, really knowledgeable fella. Everyone involved in my castaway caboose experience was wonderful, and I can't wait to go back. I was wait listed for a year, but it was well worth the wait. I think that everyone should take this trip, Atleast once in their lives. I recommend it highly!

NillThe train crew is super friendly and want to be sure you are happy. The train was clean and very well stocked. The list of things provided for you was all listed and all there. I packed some of them just to be sure. The peace and quiet was wonderfull. The entire experience was top notch. Such a great time for both young or old. Saw a bear, an Eagle, and lots of other wildlife. . The only thing unfortunate was we only stayed for 2 nights. Could have stayed longer. Great Job guys.

NillI waited a year to try to make a reservation, checking the first week of January, and was told that reservations for the month of May didn't open up until mid to late February, so I called on February 6th and was told they were booked for the year! It was the same person who told me to call back in mid February! Very frustrating and then to be told that they have no system for cancellation wait list. Not sure I even want to try next year, very disappointed in the staff that answers the phone.
